This invention relates to a bathtube head hammock, and has for one of its objects the production of a simple and efficient head rest which is designed to give perfect comfort to a person while bathing, and also to provide a rest or support for a persons head to prevent the hair from getting wet while taking a warm water soaking in a' bath tub. p

A further object of this invention is the production-of a simple and efiicient head rest which is adjustable to different width bath tubs, and

which will be firmly held in position to support the head of a user while bathing.

Other objects and advantages of the present invention will appear throughout the following specification and claims.

Figure 1 is a top plan view of the head rest showing the same mounted upon a bath tub, the tub being shown in dotted lines;

Figure 2 is an enlarged front elevational view of the head rest partly broken away to show the central supporting leg;

Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 1;

Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Figure 2, the head rest and certain other parts being eliminated.

By referring'to the drawing, it will be seen that I!) designates the bath tub head rest frame which comprises a central tubular sleeve portion H into which the lateral arms 12 are slidably mounted and are locked in an adjusted position by means of the adjusting clamps I3. These clamps I 3 are carried by the ends of the sleeve I l and are fixed thereto, each end of the sleeve ll being split as shown in Figure 3, at [4, to facilitate the gripping of the arms I2 as the adjusting bolts l5 or thumb screws draw the clamps II to a gripping position as shown in detail in Figure 3. Each arm I2 is provided with a forwardly and outwardly inclined portion 16 which terminates in a forward terminal I8, the terminals I8 extending in substantially parallel relation, as shown in Figure 1.

A central supporting lug l9 engages the lower face of the central sleeve portion II and is adjustably secured to the sleeve by means of an anchoring screw 20. The lug I9 is provided with a depending end 2| which carries a protector pad 22 for engagement with the inner face of the end of the tub T, as shown in Figure 3. The lug I9 is adapted to rest upon the top edge of the end of the tub T, and the depending end 2| by rest,- in against the inner face of the end ofthe tub T will support the frame I0 upon the tub. Similar lugs 23 having pads 24 support the terminals l8 of the arms l2'upon the sides of the tub T. The pads 24 which depend from the lugs 23 are adapted to engage the inner faces of the sides of the tub T to anchor the frame Ill, against lateral displacement. The lugs 23 are adjustable transversely of the terminals [8 to fit snugly against the sides of the tub as indicated in dotte'd lines in Figure 2. Any suitable means may be employed for locking the lugs 19 and 23 in an adjusted position. A typical means is illustrated at 29 in Figure 4. The anchoring screw 20 is tightened to clamping engagement with the lug I9 by means of the upstanding button 25 which is threaded upon the screw 20 and abuts the top of the sleeve I l.

A flexible water repellent head rest member 26 is supported by the frame l0, and comprises a rearwardly extending tapering portion 21 and laterally extending side portions 28. The rearwardly extending tapering portion 21 is provided with a series of aligned eyelets or apertures 29 for selectively fitting over the upstanding button 25 for adjustable connection therewith. The laterally extending side portions 21 are also provided with a plurality of rows of aligned apertures or eyelets 30 extending from the outer ends of the portions 21 toward the center of the head rest member 26. The apertures 30 are adapted to be adjustably fitted over the buttons 3| which are secured to the terminals l8. The flexible head rest member may therefore easily be adlusted to the comfort and convenience of the user and will hang hammock-like from the frame to provide an eificient means to support the head in comfort and to support the hair of a user in a manner to prevent the hair from becoming wet while taking a bath.

A suitable pad 32 may be carried by the flexible head rest member 26, as shown in Figures 1 and 2. The frame 10 preferably is formed of suitable non-rustable material, plated steel, or any other non-corrosive material, as are the supporting lugs l9 and 23, and the pads 22 and 24 may be made of rubber or other soft material, to prevent marring of the bath tub. The lugs preferably are attached to the frame I 0 which is adjustable in a manner to generally conform to the radius of the rim of a conventional bath tub. However, the present invention is not limited to such a detail construction. The bath tub head rest is adaptable to different width bath tubs, and the thumb screws l5 facilitate this adjustment. -"Ihe flexible head rest member 26 may head rest comprising a frame adapted to fitupcn a bath tub a detachable flex- 4 ible head rest member carried by said frame andadapted to support the head of a user and provide a protector upon which the head may rest to prevent the hair from becoming wet, anchoring elements carried by said frame, and said flexible head rest member having a plurality of selectively located apertures adjacent the periphery of the head rest member for selectively engaging the anchoring' elements to adjustably connect the head rest member with the frame.

said flexible head rest member having a plurality of selectively located apertures adjacent the periphery of the head rest member for selectively engaging the upstanding anchoring buttons to adjustably connect the head rest member with the frame.

A bath tub head rest comprising a frame adapted to fit upon a bath tub, a flexible head rest member carried by said frame and adapted to support the head of a user and provide a protector upon which the head may rest to prevent the hair from becoming wet, said frame comprising a tubular sleeve, laterally adjustable arms slidable in said sleeve, means for locking the arms in an adjusted position relative to the sleeve to accommodate the frame to dififerent sized bath tubs, andadjustable lugs carried by the frame and adapted to overhang the top edges of a bath tub to anchor the frame upon a bath tub.
