This invention relates'to a novel'type of scarflike piece of wearing accessory which maybe worn in various ways. The prime -object of the invention sto provide :a "wearing accessory of simple construction and inexpensive manufacture whichcan be worn as, or convertedatwill into. the following types of accessories: ia) a scafi 1or muiiler of the "type known 2.5.2.,"13513013; ,(b) :a.;similar form used mostly by men .and knownasianAscottie or a stock ftie; (c) yafhalter or csleeveless blouse; "('d) a simple scarf; 12) .a 'bandcau'or'jhead covering.

iThenoveLwearing accessory'is shown, together with some of the various'forms of wear'in which it is convertible, in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Fig. 1 shows the novel wearing accessory in outstretched condition;

Fig. 2 shows it folded in half, as the first step in converting the accessory into various wearing forms;

Fig. 3 illustrates the conversion of the novel accessory into a jabot or Ascot tie (this showing the first steps; the conversion being completed in Fig. 4);

Fig. 4 likewise illustrates the conversion of the novel accessory into a jabot or tie, this figure showing the completed conversion, shown in its first stages in Fig. 3;

Fig. 5 is a front view of the novel accessory being worn as a halter or sleeveless blouse;

Fig. 6 is the rear view of the blouse or halter conversion of Fig. 5; and

Fig. 7 shows a slightly modified form of the novel wearing accessory.

The novel convertible wearing accessory which is fabricated of chiffon, or other silk, rayon or cotton fabric of soft texture, is shown when fully stretched out, in Fig. 1. As there shown, the novel accessory is of square outline, although it may have any other rectangular or substantially rectangular formation. As a matter of fact, the novel accessory need not be quadrilateral; a modification is shown in Fig. 7 which is formed from a blank of nonquadrilateral or irregular outline. But for facility in illustration the novel accessory is shown in Fig. 1 (and Fig. 2) as formed from a square blank.

Irrespective of the shape of the blank from which it is formed, the novel wearing accessory of this invention has a center portion III of major area and four corners, more accurately, corner enlargements, II, I2, I3 and I4, of minor area. The enlargements result from large cut-outs, I5, I6, I1 and I8, one at each of the four sides of the blank.

The first step =that the wearer 1 takes is to hold lthe' folded accessory in -front of her with the double corner enlargement :13 (Il best shoWnfin FigJ 2,:centereduas shown--in Fig. "3 and with' the-other twovcorner enlargements held outstretched in either hand. This initial :step does not appear in Fig. 3; but the corner enlargement I2 (which is to the right of the double corner enlargement I3 (H) in Fig. 2) would be held in her left hand, designated L in Fig. 3. The other corner enlargement I4 would be held in her right hand R. The two ends I2, I4 are then encircled around the neck so that the corner enlargement I4 is now held in her left hand (L) and the corner enlargement I2 in her right hand (R), as is shown in Fig. 3.

The two ends I2, I4 are then formed into an over-hand or Ascot tie, designated 20 in Fig. 4.

The conversion of the novel accessory (unfolded, Fig. i) into a halter or sleeveless blouse is shown in Figs. 5-6. The unfolded accessory, Fig. 1, is held by the wearer in front of her with the two upper corner'enlargements II, I2, Fig. 1, in the region of the neck and with the two lower corner enlargements I3, I4, Fig. 1, in'the region of the waist. The said two upper ends I I, I2 Fig. 1, are tied to form a loose knot at the back of the neck, designated 2 I in Fig. 6; the said two lower ends, I3, I4,.Fig. 1, are tied to form a loose knot at the back, designated 25 in Fig. 6.

As mentioned earlier, the novel convertible wearing accessory need not be square shaped, as shown in Fig. 1; nor need it be quadrilateral. The novel accessory need not have four corner enlargements as is shown in Fig. 1; it may be made with three corner enlargements (as is shown in Fig. 2). In the modification, which may be illustrated by aforesaid Fig. 2, the accessory is formed from a triangular, more accurately,

.a right-angle triangle, blank. This modification may, however, be formed from an irregular blank light weight scarf material of substantially square outline, said material having a central portion substantially square in shape, constituting a'ma jor area and a plurality of corner enlargements constituting minor areas, said corner enlargements of minor areas each substantially'square in shape, said corner enlargements beingxseparated by side cut-outs, whereby when said scarf is-folded on a diagonal line a pair or coterm inous corner enlargements centrally disposedand a diagonally folded single corner enlargement at each end are formed, said coterminous central enlargements and said end enlargements being, respectively, separated by said cut-outs,..said ,coterminous central enlargements being adapted to cover the front torso of the wearer with thematerial between. saidend enlargements in. .0 1? cling relation about the neck of the wearer, said end enlargements being adapted to be formed into an over-hand knot ,disposedin superposed relation to said centrallydisposed .coterminous enlargements. v

2. A convertible scarf comprising a piece of light weight scarf material of substantially square outline, said material having a central portion substantially square in shape, constituting a major area and a plurality of corner enlargements constituting minor areas, said corner enlargements of minor areas each substantially square in shape, said corner enlargements being separated by side cut-outs, whereby when said central portion of major area is held in front of the wearer with a pair of said corner enlargements at the neck of the wearer and a pair of corner enlargements at the waist of the wearer, the first said 'pair of enlargements may be formed into a knot at the back of the neck of the wearer, and the second said pair of enlargements may be formed into a knot at the back of the waist of the wearer.
