'The present invention relates [to toilet tissue holdin and dispensing-devices andihas more par ticu'lar reference 'to a multipurpose unit which provides simple and practical facilities whereby a single Structural unit functions as .a storage receiver for extra rolls of toilet tissues as well as a holder and dispenser for the roll which is actively'in use.
Many and varied styles and types of multipurpose dispensing cabinets and so-called reserve paper magazines have been :devised whereby a single instrumentality functions both .as. a dispenser and accompanying container for extra rolls of toilet tissues. It follows, therefore, that it is highly desirable that practical ways and means be provided to store and maintain extra rolls of toilet tissue in a handy position for use whenever necessary or desired. Prior art devices in this field of endeavor which have come to my attention fall short, in my estimation, of fulfilling the requirements of all concerned.
The object of the present invention is, therefore, to structurally, functionally and otherwise improve on known multipurpose roll holders by providing a highly practical construction in which manufacturers, users and others will find their anticipated requirements fully met and effectually available.
Briefly summarized, the invention herein under advisement is characterized by a vertically elongated casing which embodies a storage receiver, said receiver being open at its top and provided with a closing lid, thus permitting the receiver to be employed for storing extra rolls of toilet tissues with latter arranged in vertically stacked readily available positions in the receiver. The upper portion of the casing, the portion above the receiver closing lid, is especially fashioned into a hood-like holder and dispenser, said closing lid serving as the bottom of said holder.
' Novelty is predicated, in addition, on a struc ture of the aforementioned nature wherein the holder and dispenser is characterized by a hingedly mounted cover, the latter being provided with depending hangers, said hangers being provided, in turn, with keeper notches to accommodate the end portion of an axle or shaft which is employed to conveniently mount the usual cardboard hub portion of the tissue roll for convenient unreeling of the tissue windings.
Other objects and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings.
In the accompanying sheet of drawings, wherez olnms. (0111 2 5513) 2 in. like. -.numerals are employed to designaterlike parts throughout the views:
Figure, :1 is a perspective view of a multipu pose toilet tissue icabinetiprovided with the. proved -dispensing and storage. facilities;
Figure 2 is an enlarged central verticalrse'e-r tional view taken approximately on the planepf the line 22 of Figure. l looklng the -=d1rection-of the arrows; and
Figure 3 is :a view on the same scale as Figure 2.,.and fragmentarily shown with .:parts in section and elevation to bring out certain details of the construction.
"The over-all cabinet 6 is in the form of 5avertio-ally elongated .metal or equivalentcasing which .is primarily rectangular in .crossssectiom It. is denoted generally by the numeral *6. and is. made up essentially of a storage receiver-84st the bottom, and a holder and dispenser l0 at the top. The back wall is flat and denoted by the numeral l2 and the upper portion thereof is provided with keyhole slots |4l4 to be hung on supporting hooks or the like l6l6, as best shown in Figure 3. The front wall l8 terminates at its upper end on a plane well below the slotted back wall. The side walls 2020 have their upper ends 22-22 extending to the same level as the back wall with the portions above the front wall provided with cut-outs 24-44 which serve to provide clearance for the protruding portion of the usable roll of toilet tissues denoted at 26 in Figure 2. A dished lid 28 is hingedly mounted to the back wall as at 30 and this is interposed between the side walls and has a downturned lip 32 which swings down over the upper edge portion of the front wall l8. This lid completes the storage receiver, that is, the space or compartment 34.for the reserve rolls of toilet tissues as at 36 and 38. The rolls are stacked vertically in end-to-end relation so that by opening the lid they may be conveniently removed or, alternatively, replaced as the case may be. The member 28 serves not only as a lid for the receiver but also as a bottom wall for the dispensing holder Ill. The latter is of hood-like form and the top 40 thereof is hingedly mounted on the upper end of the back wall as at Ma and defines a practical cover or lid for the holder. The outer free end of the cover is slanted downwardly as at M to provide a sort of a guard to facilitate unreeling of the paper from the roll 26, especially when the latter is full. There are flanges 42 along the longitudinal edge portions of the cover 40 and these swing down over the upper end portions of the side wall extensions 22.
As before stated, the cover 40 is provided with ,a. pair of depending hangers 44 and these are simple flat strips of metal or the like which are disposed in spaced parallelism and are provided handy compartment or space beneath the holder means In. Therefore, they do not in any manner interfere with the free operation of the active r011 26. The lid 28 not only constitutes a closure for the compartment 34 but also a suitable bottom for the hood-lik holder means 10. The upper lid or cover 40 may be swun up and the holder conveniently loaded and then allowed to drop clown to bring the active roll 26 into ready-to-use position. 1 e r I Itis thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. 1 Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Minor changes in the shape, size and arrangement of details coming within the field of invention'claimecl may be resorted to in actual practice, if desired.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A combination storing and dispensing device for toilet tissues comprising a vertically elongated casing embodying a storage receiver open at its top andprovidedwith a closing lid for said top,
and an open front hood-like holder and dispenser above and in vertical alignment with said receiver, said holder being rectangular in crosssection and embodying,.;.a rear wall with keyhole openings therein, side walls and a top wall hinged to said rear wall and lidding over said sid walls, said top wall serving as a cover for said holder, said closing lid serving as a bottom for said holder and being dished to facilitate unwinding a roll of toilet tissues, and a pairof hanger members secured to the underneath side of said top wall and depending into said holder, said member having keeper notches for around which, in practice,
serves as a shaft for the usual hub portion of said roll.
2. A combination storing and dispensing device Y for rolled toilet tissues comprising a vertically elongated-casing embodying a storage receiver open at its top, a readily openable and closable lid for said open top, a hood-like holder situated above and in alignment with said receiver for housing a roll of toilet tissues, said holder embodying a pair of spaced parallel side walls, an intervening back wall, and a hingedly mounted top wall, said closing lid functioning as a bottom for said holder, and hanger members attached to said top wall and depending into said holder.
