4 Claims. (Cl. 20G-16) lThis invention relates to vacuum cleaner attachment tool kits and has particular reference to a kit which is useful in connection with the shipment and storage of such tools.
While many suggestions have been heretofore made for kits of this kind, the principal objections to such suggestions are that the kits are too expensive or that the kits are not sufficiently useful or durable.
The present invention contemplates a new form of kit which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and which is designed to conveniently hold attachment tools for shipping and also for storage purposes. The design of the kit is such that it may be made very sturdy and durable on a relatively inexpensive basis.
A principal object of the invention, therefore, is to provide a new and improved vacuum cleaner attachment tool kit.
Other and further objects of the invention will be apparent from the following description and claims and will be understood by reference to the accompanying drawing, of which there is one sheet, which, by way of illustration, shows a preferred embodiment and the principles thereof and what I now consider to be the best mode in which I have contemplated applying those principles. Other embodiments of the invention embodying the same or equivalent principles may be used and structural changes may be made as desired by those skilled in the art without departing from the present invention and the purview of the appended claims.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of a kit embodying the invention;
Fig. 2 is an elevational view of the opposite side of the kit shown in Fig. l;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view taken along the line 3-3 of Fig. l;
Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken along the line I-I of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary sectional view taken along the line 5-5 of Fig. l.
As illustrated in the embodiment of the invention selected for purposes of illustration, the vacuum cleaner attachment tool kit consists of an upright flat panel l0 having integral vertical, hollow columns l2 at each of the ends thereof, the columns being separated by the panel and forming supports for standing and maintaining the panel i0 in an upright position. Each side of the panel is provided with means hereinafter described more fully for supporting attachment tools. In addition the columns I2 are open at the top and form elongated pockets for sup# porting attachment tools, sich as wands. A strap handle Il may be amxed to the panel l0 so as to form a means for conveniently holding the kit in order that it may be carri .d.
As illustrated, the kit is made from a single sheet of material, preferably having its upper and lower edges folded back as indicated at IB so as to form a durable edge for the kit. The material employed may be cardboard, corrugated paper, or other suitable stiff material. The sheet of material is folded so as to form the panel I 0 vand the columns l2, and the ends of the sheet may be arranged in abutting relation as indicated at I8.
The columns I2 may be triangular in cross section and are each closed at the bottom by a piece of material 2U similar to that of which the panel I0 and the columns I2 are made. 'I'he piece 20 has its edges turned downwardly so as to be received between the bottom turned-back edge of the piece of material and two of the walls which detlne the column l2, as is clearly shown in'Figs. 1 and 5.
The panel Ill thus consists of two plies of material which are secured together by staples 22 or other suitable means. The strap handle Il may be secured by means of certain of the staples 22.
The means which define the tool receiving pockets on the panel I0 consist of strips 24 of relatively stili material, such as cardboard or ilberboard, each arranged in the form of a loop and open at the top and bottom. The panel lll may be provided with pairs of slits 26 through which the ends 28 of theloops extend,.and such ends may be'turned laterally and secured by and between the plies forming the panel l0.
While I have illustrated and described a preferred embodiment of my invention, it is understood that this is capable of modiiication, and I therefore do not wish to be limited to the precise details set forth, but desire to avail myself of such changes andalterations as fall within the purview of the following claims.
I claim:
1. A vacuum cleaner attachment tool kit comprising an upright flat panel having an integral vertical hollow column at each of the ends thereof, the upper and lower edges of said panel being folded back upon said panel, a piece of material forming a closure adjacent the lower end of each column and having downwardly turned edges, said downwardly turned edges being received between the lower folded-back edge of said panel and at least two of the walls deiining said column,
said columns being spaced by said panel and forming supports for standing and maintaining said panel in an upright position, each side of said panel having provisions for supporting at- 4 said panel and the walls defining said column, said columns being spaced by said panel and forming supports for standing and maintaining said panel in an upright position, and said tachment tools between said columns, said hollow 5 having provisions for supporting attachment tools columns forming pockets for supporting attachthereon. ment tools. 4. Avacuum cleaner attachment tool kit ac- 2. A vacuum cleaner attachment tool kit according to claim 3 wherein said panel and columns cording to claim 1 wherein said panel and colare formed from a single piece of material which umns are formed from a single piece of material 10 is folded back upon itself so that said panel oonwhich is folded back upon itself to 4dene said sists of two plies of material. columns and said panel with the vertical edges MARION W.
