2 Claims.
may be quickly removed easily replaced without wheel.
removing the entire to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, referto like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the improved gear wheel constructed in accordance with the present invention;
Figure 2 is a front elevational view of the gear wheel hub and spokes with the gear teeth plates removed therefrom;
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view showing the manner in which the gear teeth plates are secured to the hub;
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on the line l 4 of Figure 1, and
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on the line 55 of Figure 1.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present ably fiat rim connected by integral radial spokes 6 to a hub 1, said hub having an internally formed oil groove 8 of conventional form.
A pair of semi-circular rings designated generally by the numeral 9 are substantially T- shaped in cross section and the lower portion ID of said rings opposing the outer face of rim 5 are held thereto by bolts H extending through openings I2 in the lower portion that engage threaded openings 13 in the rim. One flange I 4 of said rings overlie the outer edge of rim 5 as shown in Figure 4 of the drawings.
Each end of rings 9 are cut away as at 15 to allow for true fitting of the bearing ends it at each end of the rings.
Bolts I! are fitted into internally threaded bosses I8 at each end of the rings for tightly connecting the rings to each other.
The rings 9 are formed with gear teeth 59 which are of conventional shape and spaced equally apart from each other.
What I claim is:
1. A gear wheel comprising a flat annular rim, a hub having an internal REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
