This invention relates to devices for holding hair pins or bobbie pins and other similar articles.

The objects of my invention are, first, to provide a simple, cheap, and effective means of holding such pins in such position that they may be easily inserted and removed therefrom; second, which may be made of any desired color and shape; and third, which may be enclosed in a container or held together by clamps, or secured together by cementing or other means.

I attain these and other objects by the devices and arrangements illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Fig. 1 is a plan of my invention, contained in a suitable box; Fig. 2 is an elevation thereof, partly in section on the line 2--2 in Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of one of the ring elements of which it is made.

As illustrated in the drawings, I provide a box or container 4 provided with a top or cover 5, having its central portion removed to form the hole 6, through which the interior is exposed for use (Fig. 2).

Within the box 4 I stack a series of similar rings I, one above the other. Each ring comprises an annular body which may be one-quarter inch high and about one-sixteenth inch thick. These rings are preferably made of plastic ma terial. I mount a series of parallel filaments 8 on each said ring. These filaments 8 are preferably made of nylon threads and may be about one-thirtieth inch in diameter and may be spaced about one-fourth inch apart.

The preferred method of attaching the threads to the rings is to cement them to the rings by the use of a suitable solvent, such as acetone or acetic acid.

I prefer to have about five such rings and to arrange them so that the threads of adjacent rings lie at different angles, thus together forming an open mesh, when viewed from above (Fig. 1), suitable to receive either the ordinary hair pins or bobbie pins and to hold them upright therein so that they may be easily grasped.

It is, of course, understood that though the box 4 and the rings 1 are shown circular in form, they may be made in any shape desired, such as oval, square, oblong, or triangular; and that the material used may be of any desired color. Further, the several rings may be cemented together into a single integral body, as by the use of "acetone and, in that case the box may be eliminated; or the rings may be secured together by any suitable clamping means.

It is also to be understood that the material used in making the rings and the filaments may be any suitable materials and that the threads may be attached to the rings by any suitable means, and that the dimensions mentioned herein may be varied to suit the desires of the trade.

Having therefore described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a holder of the class described, the combination of a plurality of annular bodies, one above the other; with separate parallel filaments stretched across each said body and running in one direction only, the filaments of one said body being non-parallel with the filaments of its adjacent bodies.

2. In a holder of the class described, the combination of a plurality of annular bodies, one above the other; with separate parallel filaments stretched across each said body and running in one direction only, the filaments of one said body being non-parallel with the filaments of its adjacent bodies; and means to secure said filaments to said bodies.

3. In a holder of the class described, the combination of a plurality of annular bodies, one above the other; with separate parallel filaments stretched across each said body and running in one direction only, the filaments of one said body being non-parallel with the filaments of its adj acent bodies; and means to secure said filaments and said bodies together into a single integral body.
