Application September 29, 1944, Serial No. 554,950
The invention relates to a window curtain, and more especially to a combined curtain and tieback therefor. g v
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a structure of this character, wherein curtains can be properly hung and draped, to give pleasing appearance thereto when supported at a window or the like, and without such curtains becoming disarrangedfrom their normal draped condition, thereby affording attractiveness to the same from one season of the year to another, and pleasing effects to an observer.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a structure of this character, wherein the same can be conveniently hung with dispatch and ease, and pleasingly draped from a window or the like, for giving a tidy appearance thereto.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a structure of this character, which is simple in its make-up, thoroughly reliable and efficient for the purposes intended thereof, neat and attractive in appearance when hung, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, whichshow the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is an elevation of the curtains with the tie-back constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a front view of the curtains prior to the draping and tieing back of the `same to a window or the like.
Figure 3 is an edge view thereof.
Figure 4 is a plan view of the tie-back.
Figure 5 is a plan view of the pattern of one of the curtain sections.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings in detail, A designates. generally the structure constituting the present invention in its entirety, and comprises a pair of curtain sections IU made from any suitable fabric material, each normally of the pattern, best shown in Figure 5, having a normally straight bottom edge Il, a diagonal top edge I2, and straight opposite side edges I3, respectively. These sections l0 in the mounting thereof at a 2 Claims. (Cl. 1GO-349) window or the like B are arranged in biased overlapped relationship, as best seen in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings, they having the ruffled edging M or not, and such sections are suspended at 'their top portions by any suitable suspension means not shown, to the framing of the window or the like B.
At an approprite intermediate area of each section, on the innermost side thereof is formed a diagonally disposed casing I5, crosswise thereof. Each casing l5 is designed to removably and adjustably receive a tape, cord orthe like I6 of a tieback l 1, the latter being equipped with an eye or ring I8, while the outer end of the tape, cord or the like I6, is likewise equipped with an eye, ring or the like i9, both I8 and I9, are adapted for detachable engagement with a fastener 20 on each side upright of the frame of the window, or the like B, as best seen in Figure 1 of the drawing, so that the sections will hang draped, with the tiebacks il outwardly of such sections.
What is claimed is:
1. A structure of the kind" described, comprising a curtain section having a casing built therewith intermediate the ends thereof, a tie-back having a ruied portion an eye at one end of said ruiiied portion for detachable fastening to a support, and an extension at the other end of the ruied portion of the tie-back and removably trained through the casing, and having an eye at its outer end for engaging said support.
2. A structure of the kind described, comprising a curtain section having a casing built therewith intermediate the ends thereof, a tie-back having a ruffled portion an eye at one end of said ruli'led portion for detachable fastening to a support, and an extension at the other end of the ruilied portion of the tie-back and "removably trained through the casing, having an eye at its outer end for engaging said support, and a diagonal edge formed at the top portion of the section, and the remaining side and bottom edges thereof being normally straight.A
