3 Claims. (01. 135- 49) This invention relates to knee rests for crutches.
A primary object of this invention is the provision of an improved knee rest for crutches particularly adapted for use of the user in resting the leg or foot Without the necessity for relinquishing the crutch, sitting, or the like.
An additional object of this invention is the provision of such a device which may be readily adjusted to a height'comfortable to the user thereof.
Other objects reside in the provision of such a device which will be sturdy and durable in construction, reliable and eflicient in operation and relatively inexpensive and simple to manufacture, install and adjust,
Other objects will in part be obvious and in part be pointed out as the description of the invention proceeds and shown in the accompanying drawing, wherein there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of this inventive concept.
In the drawing: Figure -1 is a side elevational view of one form of device embodying this invention shown as i From the foregoing it will now be readily understood that by release of the wing nut IS the device may be moved upwardly or downwardly within the crotch 14 in such a manner as to provide maximum comfort to the user thereof, and secured in position merely by tightening the wing nut I9 on the bolt I8.
Thus it will be seen that there is herein provided a device accomplishing all the objects of this invention and others including many advantages of great practical utility and commercial importance.
As many embodiments may be made of this inventive concept, and as many. modifications may be made in the embodiment hereinbefore shown and described, it is to be understood that all matter herein is to be interpreted merely as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
I claim:
' 1. In a knee rest for crutches, the combination of a wedge-shaped member adapted to be positioned in the crotch of a crutch, channel irons secured to opposite sides of said member and surrounding said'crutch, an angle iron'secured to one of said channel irons, and a knee pad secured to said angle iron.
2. In a kneev rest for crutches, the combination of .a wedge-shaped" member adapted to be positioned in the crotch of a crutch, channel irons secured to opposite sides of said member and surrounding said crutch, an angle iron secured to one bf said channel irons, a knee pad secured 'to said angle iron, and means for releasably Adapted to be positioned within the crotch I4 the securing means taking the form of rivets 23 or the like, and the pad 22 being so arranged as to provide a comfortable supporting surface for the knee of the user.
