My invention relates to a new and improved mount for bobby pins.
The principal object of my invention is to provide a cheap mount upon which bobby pins can be frictionally supported with their shanks spaced or separated from each other, and from which a bobby pin can be readily removed, while separating the tips of the shanks of the bobby pin, during the operation of removing the pin.
tom end-portions of the shanks of the bobby pin are separated from each other below the openings W, by the respective intermediate portion of the mount I. The bottom end-portions of the front shanks of the bobby pins are located between the respective portions of the mount I and the supplemental member 3. The resilient shanksof the bobby pins frictionally engage the mount I. I
l Other objects of the'invention are set forth inlO In order Ito remove a bobbypin B from the the annexed description andl drawing, which ilmount I, said bobby pin is slid upwardly until the lustrates a preferred embodiment thereof. tipsof the shanks of said bobby pin are located Fig. l is a front elevation illustrating the imbetween the top `and bottom edge walls of the reproved holder or mount with the bobby pins 'spective opening W. mounted thereon. In this figure, the bobby pins The bobby pin B is then turned until its axis is are substantially in normal closed position, besubstantially horizontal, so that the tips of the cause their tips are only slightly separated. shanks of the bobby pin are Widely separated Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2-2 of from each other by the respective intermediate Fig. l. It illustrates how the bobby pin which is bar 6 of the mount I. The bobby pin can be fric- `being removed from the mount is frictionally tionally retalnedinthis horizontal position which held on a bar or rail of the mount, with the is shown in Fig. 2, on the rail or bar 6. Likeshanks of said bobby pin in fully spaced relation. wise, upon removing the bobby pin by sliding the Figs. 3 and 4 are respectively sections on the same horizontally off the bar 6, the separated lines 3-3 and Il--B of Fig. 1. shanks of the bobby pin can be easily held sepa- The bobby pin of commerce is made of resilient rated from each other by the thumb and foremetal, and the tips of the shanks of said bobby linger of the user, so that the tips of the shanks pin are normally resiliently pressed against each 0f the bobby pin are w1de1y spaced from each other. 'Ihe tips ofthe shanks of such pins must other, when the bobby pm B is nnauy wholly rebe Separated fom each other, ln order to insert moved from the mount I. It is then unnecessary such pins in curlers, and forl various other purfurther to separate the tips of the shanks of the POSeSf It 1S dmcult t0 Separate the tips 0f the bobby pin for insertion into a curler or into the .shanks of the bobby pin, and numerous Yexpensive hanand complicated devices have been proposed for 'The improved mount is extremely Simple and this Purposeit can be made at low cost, and the bobby pins According t0 the invention' I provide a 5.1mm@` 35 can be very easily assembled with said mount. f" card mount I which'is shaped so that the tips of In practicing the improved method, the bobby the shanks of each bobby pin B can be suitably pin is placed on a mount on which the bobby pm Separated as part 0f the operation of removmg is frictionaiiy retained, with the tips of the vthe respective bobby pin from the mount. For shanks of the bobby pin preferably slightly convenience, the device is described with refer- 40 ence to its vertical position but said device can separated from each other The shanks of the bobby pin are then substantially parallel to each beheldm any position other The bobb in is then tuned reiative w The drawing shows a mount I which is proti f this llmt in rd t th vided with a bar 2, sov as to provide openings W. a po? on o o o .r o Increase e At its lower end, the mount I is provided with a Spacmg-between the nps of sam Shanks' and the nap or Supplemental member 3' The ends of the bobby pin is then removed from the mount while Supplemental member 3 are connected to the the separated tips of the shanks are held sepamount I, by means of wire stitches 4 or in any rat-ed from each otherother suitable manner. The width of the bar 6 exceeds the thickness The from and rear faces of the mount are thereof. Hence, the spacing between the tips planar and parallel to each other and identical. 0f the Shanks depends upn the inclination of The mount I can be made of cardboard or other the bobby Din relative to said bar 3. Further suitable rigid material, which is preferably details are ShOWD in the drawing, which is subsomewhat flexible and resilient. StB-1111151113' t0 Scalel The bobby pins are mounted so that the bot- AS ShOWn 1n F18. 2, the tips oi' the shanks frictionally grip an imperforate part of the mount I.
When the bobby pin ls in the position shown in Fig. 2, one ofthe shanks of the bobby pin which is being removed, extends through the respective opening W. The bobby pin is slidable and tiltable relative to the mount when the bobby pin is in the original position of Fig. 1, in order to extend said shank through said opening W, as soon as the bobby pin has been moved relative to the mount, from the position shown in Fig. 1 to the position shown in Fig. 2. When said shank extends through said opening W, the shanks abut the edges of bar 6. Said bar 6 is dimensioned, then to separate the tips of said Shanks so that the tips of said Shanks are separated sufiiciently to enable the bobby pinto be used, without additionally separating said tips. The inventionis not limited to a device in which the tips of the Shanks abut an imperforate part of the mount, when the bobby pins are originally assembled on the mount in the position shown in Fig, 1, in which the top edge-wall of the mount abuts the inner wall of the bobby pin at the bight of the bobby pin.
Each opening W has a substantially straight edge wall 'I which is adjacent and which is substantially parallel to a corresponding and substantially straight edgewall of the mount I.
The edge of the mount I which abuts or which is close to the loop-end of the bobby pin may be designated as the first edge of said mount I. Said mount I has a second edge which is opposed to said rst edge, namely, the bottom edge of the mount I in Fig. 2. The opening W is located between said i'lrst edge and said second edge.
I have described a preferred embodiment of my invention, but it is clear that numerous changes and omissions can be made without departing from its spirit.
