TILTING DOOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 229,502, dated June 29, 1880.
Application filed April 30, 1880. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE WAGNER, of Swanville, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tilting Doors, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a door which is more particularly intended for use in connection with a pen, stable, or other building in which 1 o swine, sheep, or other small animals are housed and the object of the invention is to allow ingress or egress to said animals at proper times, and also to provide for readily removing the door when desired.
I 5 To this end the invention consists, essentially, in a door provided with grooves and abutments at its edges, and the combination therewith of pivots projecting from the doorframe, whereby provision is made for the opening'and closing of the door at the pleasure of the animals and the removal of the same when necessary.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of a building with my improvement applied thereto, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken in the line a; as of Fig. 1.

The pen, fold, barn, or other building is deso ignated by A, and may be of any suitable description. The door B has a groove, 0, formed in each of its two opposite vertical edges. The
door-frame D has two pins or studs, e, projecting from its jamb-snrfaces. The grooves c are entirely open at the lower endor bottom of 5 the door, but are provided with abutments f at a considerable distance above the middle, of the heightof the door.
The door is placed in position by inclining it from a vertical position and engaging the 40 pins or studs 0 with the grooves c, and then lowering it until the abutments f rest on said pins 6 and the door hangs vertically, as shown in full lines. The door is now free to swing back and forth, as shown in dotted lines, when an animal passes in or out of the inclosure, and it may be removed at pleasure by reversing the motion of placing it in position, as above described.
When desired, the door may be fastened by books h and staples z, to prevent it from swinging.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 5 5 i The door B, provided with the grooves c and abutments f, in combination with the doorframe D, provided with the pins or studs 6, substantially as and for the purpose shown and described.
