Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
GEORGE BALDWIN, OF SOUTH MANCHESTER, CONNECTICUT.
-CURTA|N- FIXTURE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 227,200, dated May 4, 1880.
Application filed March 1, 1880. (Model) To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE BALDWIN, of South Manchester, Hartford county, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Curtain-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a planof the device. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional elevation of the same on line as, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to provide a novel and convenient device for supporting window shades and curtains.
The invention consists in a combination of brackets, shade-rollers, curtain -cornice, and curtain-rod, as hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings, A represents a bracket consisting of a straight and an inclined or sloping leg, a b, respectively, which legs a b have lugs 0 on their lower ends, and are united at their tops by a cross-bar, d, so as to form a bracket shaped somewhat like the letter A. Projecting centrally inward from the straight leg at is a socketed lug, f, for holding an end of a shade-holder, while on the cross-bar d is a laterally-projecting lug, g.
B B are plates provided with rings F, by which they may be suspended, and the brackets A may be secured to these plates B, or to any other suitable object, by the screws 0 passing through their lugs 0.
C is a shade-roller, held between the brackets A by the insertion of the ends of said roller C in the socketed lugs f of the said brackets.
D is the curtain-cornice or head-piece, secured to the brackets A by means of screws passing through the lugs g of the cross-bars d, as shown, and E is a curtain-rod for supporting a curtain, which rod is held in position inside of the cornice D by having its ends inserted in the corner-postsm of the said cornice D, as shown, one end being inserted in the slot n,,so that the said rod may be easily removed.
The parts, combined and arranged as herein shown and described, are designed to be suspended from the top of a window frame or cornice.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with the bracket A, shaderoller C, rod E, and cornice D, of the vertical plates B, substantially as herein shown and described, whereby the said curtain-fixtures are suspended, as set forth.
GEORGE BALDWIN.
