The invention relates to a reversible belt.

The object of the present invention is to provide a simple, practical and inexpensive re.- versible belt adapted to be equipped with any standard type of tongue buckle or initial buckle without necessitating any change in the construction thereof and provided with a belt body or band presenting two different styled faces and adapted to be readily disconnected from the buckle and reversed to enable either side or face of the belt body or band to be arranged outside for wear without the necessity of detaching and rearranging the buckle to position the latter properly with relation to the body of the belt when the latter is changed or reversed.

A further object of the invention is to provide a reversible belt of this character having a belt buckle and provided with means for detachably engaging one end of the belt body or band, also provided with a loop for receiving the other end of the belt body or band after same has been passed through the buckle and capable of enabling the belt body or band to be easily and quickly detached, reversed and replaced without changing the position of either the belt buckle or the loop which receives the free terminal portion of the belt body or band.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the claims hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportions and minor details of construction, within the scope of the claims, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

Referring particularly to Figures 1 to 4, in` elusive, of the drawing which illustrates the preferred embodiments of the invention, the reversible belt comprises in its construction a standard buckle I, a reversible belt body or band 2,V and a connecting member 3 preferably constructed of flexible material such as leather, fabric or a combination of leather and fabric, but any other suitable material may, of course, be employed in the construction vof the member which connects the belt buckle l with the belt body' or band 2. The buckle may, as illustrated in Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, of the drawing, be of the standard type initial buckle, or a standard type tongue buckle 4 may be employed as illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 of the drawing.

The 'belt body or band 2 is finished on both of its faces 5 and 6 in different styles and preferably in different colors and styles of ornamentation. One side of the reversible belt may be leather and the other side fabric, but the two' sides of the belt body may be of any suitable material or a single strap or band of material may be styled or ornamented in any suitable manner on its two sides or faces so as to present two different styled faces for wear.

The connecting member 3, which is entirely concealed from View when the belt is in use, extends longitudinally of the reversible belt from the inner end of the buckle and its ends are double or bent back on the body portion of the connecting member to form inner and outer terminal lportions 'l and 8 and provide inner and outer loops 9 and l0. The loop Il of the initial buckle is linked into the outer loop l0 and the outer terminal portion 8 is detachably secured to the body portion of the connecting member ,by snap fasteners l2 of the ordinary construction and composed of coacting interlocking stud andv socket members i3 and I4, as clearly illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawing. The stud members i3 are preferably mounted on the body portion of the flexible connecting member, and one of the stud members passes through the rear terminal portion l of the same and permanently confines in the rear loop 9 a transverse loop l5, which is linked into the said rear loop 9 and which receives the free terminal portion of the belt body or band after same has been passed through the buckle. The attached end I6 of the belt body or band is provided with spaced openings I'I through which the stud members I3 of the snap fasteners pass for detachably securing the belt body or band to the connecting member. The outer terminal portion 8, when secured in its closed position by the snap iasteners, confine the loop of the buckle in the outer loop I and also securely fasten the attached end of the belt body within the fold of the connecting member, and, when the termmal por tion 8 is unfastened and opened as illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawing, the attached end of the belt body may be readily disconnected and reversed without changing the position lof ei-ther the belt buckle I or the transverse loop I5. The belt buckle is located at the outer Yend of the folded connecting member and vthe transverse loop I5 is located at the inner end of the connecting member and, when the adjustable end of the belt body is passed through the buckle, the free terminal portion of such adjustable end is passed through the transverse loop I5 in the usual manner. This conceals the connecting member from View when the belt is in use. The body portion of the connecting member is concealed by the body vof the wearer when the belt is in use. While the side edges of the connecting member and the attached end of the belt ar-e in substantial parallelism and of uniform width, they may, of course, be of `any other preferred form, as will be readily understood.

In Figures 5 `and 6 of the drawing, the connecting member IB is provided at the outer loop I9 with a slot 20 .to receive the tongue 2l of the buckle 4 and the snap fasteners 22 oi the `ccnnecting member are spaced apart and arranged in transverse alignment, While the snap fasteners of the form of the invention illustrated in Figures l to 4, inclusive, of the drawing are disposed in longitudinal alignment. The opening-s II of the belt body .2 are aligned longitudinally with respect to the belt body. The openings 23 of the attached .end of the belt body 24 illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 of the drawing are -arranged in transverse alignment to correspond with the transverse alignment of the snap fasteners. Both of the snap fasteners pass through the inner terminal portion 25 of the connecting member I8, and the transverse loop 26 which is linked into the inner loop 2l of the connecting member is preferably confined at the end of the inner loop by a line of stitching 28. In Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, of the drawing, the transverse loop Il is made of leather while the transverse loop 26 is constructed of metal, but transverse loops of any suitable material may, of course, be provided, and particularly when of metal may be ornamented in any desired manner.

In applying a buckle of the tongue type to the connecting member, the frame of the buckle is linked into the front loop I9, while the tongue of the buckle passes through the slot 20. The attached end of the belt body 24 is passed through the transverse loop and is engaged by both of the snap fasteners and, when the outer termi nal portion 28 of the connecting member is closed and fastened, the tongue buckle is conned in the outer loop I9 and the attached end of the belt body 24 is securely fastened within the fold of the connecting member.

What is claimed is:

l. A reversible belt including a buckle, a reversible belt body presenting two different styled faces for wear, a connecting member having a body portion and a terminal portion forming a `loop detachably receiving the buckle, said body portion and terminal portion having relative movement to open and close the loop to confine the buckle therein and also to permit one end of the belt body to be arranged within the loop of the connecting member, and fastening means securing the terminal portion of the connecting member in its closed position and also securing the belt body to the connecting member, said fastening means permitting reversal of the belt body Without changing theY position of the buckle when the terminal portion of the connecting member is unfastened and opened.

2. A reversible belt including a buckle, a belt body having side faces of two different styles and provided at one Aend with spaced openings, a ilexible connecting member comprising a piece of exible material having its outer end folded back forming a loop located at the outer end of .the connecting member and linked into the buckle, and fastening means including spaced snap fasteners having coasting members carried by the body portion of the connecting member and the folded terminal portion and securing the same together to coniine the buckle in said loop and also passing through the spaced openings of the belt body and detachably securing the belt body within the fold of the connecting member whereby the belt body may be .detached andY reversed when said terminal portion of the connecting member is unfastened and opened.

3. A reversible belt including va buckle, a belt body having side faces of two diierent styles and provided at one end with spaced openings,

Va flexible .connecting member comprising a piece of flexible material having its .ends doubled back forming a body portion and two terminal portions and providing loops at the inner and outer ends of the body portion, snap fasteners composed of members mounted respectively on the outer terminal portion and the body portion of the connecting member and detachably engaging the spaced openings of the belt body and also securing the outer terminal portion to the body portion of the .connecting member, and a transverse loop linked into the loop at the inner end of the .connecting member and adapted to receive theV terminal portion of the belt body after the same has been passed through the buckle, said outer terminal portion of the connecting member-when unfastened permitting the attached end of the belt body to be detached and reversed without changing the position of the buckle or theV transverse loop.
