Abstract
A repurpose cable tie device for reusing a broken cable tie includes a head being a plastic material. The head has a top surface, a bottom surface, a first surface, and a second surface. Furthermore, the head has a rectangular prism shape. An initial opening is positioned next to the first surface of the head. The initial opening is nests a cable tie within itself. A lock opening is positioned next to the second surface of the head. The lock opening has a first wall and a second wall, and a protrusion is positioned on the first wall. The protrusion is retains the cable tie inserted within the lock opening from reverse direction. A middle opening is positioned in a center from the initial opening to the lock opening. The middle opening is nests a cable tie within itself, similar to the initial opening.

- The disclosure relates to cable tie device and more particularly pertains to a new cable tie device for reusing a broken cable tie.
- The prior art relates to cable tie devices. The prior art relates to a variety of cable tie devices to secure a loop of the cable tie by clasp lock fastening. Known prior art lacks a cable tie device configured to reuse broken cable ties and creating a new loop by clasp lock fastening.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a head being a plastic material. The head has a top surface and a bottom surface. The head has a first surface and a second surface. Furthermore, the head has a rectangular prism shape. An initial opening is positioned proximate to the first surface of the head. The initial opening is configured for nesting a cable tie within. A lock opening is positioned proximate to the second surface of the head. The lock opening has a first wall and a second wall where a protrusion is positioned on the first wall of the lock opening. The protrusion is configured for restraining the cable tie inserted within the lock opening from reverse direction. A middle opening is positioned in a center from the initial opening to the lock opening. The middle opening is configured for nesting a cable tie within.
- Furthermore, a method for repurposing the cable tie includes the step of inserting a tip of a cable tie within an initial opening of a top surface of a head before pulling the tip through the initial opening to nest a body of the cable tie within the initial opening. The user folds the cable tie to position the tip facing towards the head with the tip abutting the body of the cable tie. The user inserts the tip of the cable tie within a middle opening of a bottom surface of the head before pulling the tip through the middle opening to nest the body of the cable tie within the middle opening of the head. The user folds the cable tie to position the tip facing towards the head where the body of the cable is nested within both the initial opening and the middle opening. The user inserts the tip of the cable tie within a lock opening of the top opening of the head before pulling the tip of the cable tie through the lock opening to position the body of the cable tie within the lock opening. A protrusion of the lock opening engages with a clasp locking fastener of the cable tie where the protrusion restrains the cable tie from reverse direction. The body of the cable tie forms a loop upon a top surface of the head. An item is secured by being enclosed within the loop prior to fastening by pulling on the tip of the cable tie.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 6 is a detail view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new cable tie device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the repurposecable tie device 10 generally comprises ahead 12. Thehead 12 is aplastic material 14 wherein theplastic material 14 is configured for being light weight. Thehead 12 has atop surface 16 and abottom surface 18. Thehead 12 has a pair oflateral surfaces 20 wherein the pair oflateral surfaces 20 is positioned perpendicular relative to the top 16 and bottom 18 surfaces. Additionally, thehead 12 has afirst surface 22 and asecond surface 24 wherein the first 22 and second 24 surfaces are positioned perpendicular relative to the pair of lateral surfaces 20. Thehead 12 has a rectangular prism shape defined by the elements including the top 16 and bottom 18 surfaces, the pair oflateral surfaces 20, and the first 22 and second 24 surfaces. - An
initial opening 26 is positioned proximate to thefirst surface 22 of thehead 12. Theinitial opening 26 is an aperture from the top surface to the bottom surface of the head. Theinitial opening 26 has a rectangular shape and is configured for nesting acable tie 28 within. Alternately, alock opening 30 is positioned proximate to thesecond surface 24 of thehead 12. Thelock opening 30 is an aperture from thetop surface 16 to thebottom surface 18 of thehead 12. Thelock opening 30 has a rectangular shape, similar to theinitial opening 26. Thelock opening 30 has afirst wall 32 and asecond wall 34 wherein aprotrusion 36 is positioned on thefirst wall 32 of thelock opening 30. Theprotrusion 36 has a plurality ofindents 38 configured to engage with aclasp locking fastener 40 of thecable tie 28. Theprotrusion 36 is configured for restraining thecable tie 28 inserted within the lock opening 30 from reverse direction. - A
middle opening 42 is positioned in acenter 44 from theinitial opening 26 to thelock opening 30. Themiddle opening 42 is an aperture from thetop surface 16 to thebottom surface 18 of thehead 12 and has a rectangular shape. Themiddle opening 42 is identical in size to theinitial opening 26. Themiddle opening 42 is configured for nesting acable tie 28 within. The positioning of themiddle opening 42 and theinitial opening 26 relative to each other enables anend 44 of acable tie 28 to be retained in place by friction when thecable tie 28 is bent from theinitial opening 26 to themiddle opening 42. - In use, the user inserts a
tip 46 of acable tie 28 within theinitial opening 26 of thetop surface 16 of thehead 12 before pulling thetip 46 through theinitial opening 26 to nest the body of thecable tie 34 within the initial opening. 26 The user folds thecable tie 34 to position thetip 46 facing towards thehead 12 with thetip 46 abutting the body of thecable tie 28. Subsequently, the user inserts thetip 46 of thecable tie 28 within themiddle opening 42 of thebottom surface 18 of thehead 12 before pulling thetip 46 through themiddle opening 42 to nest the body of thecable tie 28 within themiddle opening 42 of thehead 12. The user folds thecable tie 28 to position thetip 46 facing towards thehead 12 where the body of thecable tie 46 is nested within both theinitial opening 26 and themiddle opening 42. The user inserts thetip 46 of thecable tie 28 within the lock opening 30 of thetop surface 16 of thehead 12 before pulling thetip 46 of thecable tie 28 through the lock opening 30 to position the body of thecable tie 34 within thelock opening 30. Theprotrusion 36 of thelock opening 30 engages with theclasp locking fastener 40 of thecable tie 28 wherein theprotrusion 36 restrains thecable tie 28 from reverse direction. The body of thecable tie 28 forms aloop 48 upon thetop surface 16 of thehead 12. Anitem 50 is secured to thecable tie 28 by being enclosed within theloop 48 prior to fastening by pulling on thetip 46 of thecable tie 28. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims (9)
1. A repurpose cable tie device configured for reusing a zip tie, the repurpose cable tie device comprising:
a head being a plastic material, said head having a top surface and a bottom surface, said head having a first surface and a second surface, said head having a rectangular prism shape;
an initial opening being positioned proximate to said first surface of said head, said initial opening being configured for nesting a cable tie within;
a lock opening being positioned proximate to said second surface of said head, said lock opening having a first wall and a second wall, a protrusion being positioned on said first wall of said lock opening, said protrusion being configured for restraining said cable tie inserted within said lock opening from reverse direction; and
a middle opening being positioned in a center from said initial opening to said lock opening, said middle opening being configured for nesting a cable tie within.
2. The repurpose cable tie device of claim 1 , further comprising said head having a pair of lateral surfaces, said pair of lateral surfaces being positioned perpendicular relative to said top and bottom surfaces.
3. The repurpose cable tie device of claim 1 , further comprising said first and second surfaces being positioned perpendicular relative to said pair of lateral surfaces.
4. The repurpose cable tie device of claim 1 , further comprising said initial opening being an aperture from said top surface to said bottom surface of said head, said initial opening having a rectangular shape.
5. The repurpose cable tie device of claim 1 , further comprising said lock opening being an aperture from said top surface to said bottom surface of said head, said lock opening having a rectangular shape.
6. The repurpose cable tie device of claim 1 , further comprising said protrusion having a plurality of indents configured to engage with a clasp locking fastener of the cable tie.
7. The repurpose cable tie device of claim 1 , further comprising said middle opening being an aperture from said top surface to said bottom surface of said head, said middle opening having a rectangular shape.
8. A repurpose cable tie device configured for reusing a zip tie, the repurpose cable tie device comprising:
a head being a plastic material, said head having a top surface and a bottom surface, said head having a pair of lateral surfaces, said pair of lateral surfaces being positioned perpendicular relative to said top and bottom surfaces, said head having a first surface and a second surface, said first and second surfaces being positioned perpendicular relative to said pair of lateral surfaces, said head having a rectangular prism shape;
an initial opening being positioned proximate to said first surface of said head, said initial opening being an aperture from said top surface to said bottom surface of said head, said initial opening having a rectangular shape, said initial opening being configured for nesting a cable tie within;
a lock opening being positioned proximate to said second surface of said head, said lock opening being an aperture from said top surface to said bottom surface of said head, said lock opening having a rectangular shape, said lock opening having a first wall and a second wall, a protrusion being positioned on said first wall of said lock opening, said protrusion having a plurality of indents configured to engage with a clasp locking fastener of the cable tie, said protrusion being configured for restraining said cable tie inserted within said lock opening from reverse direction; and
a middle opening being positioned in a center from said initial opening to said lock opening, said middle opening being an aperture from said top surface to said bottom surface of said head, said middle opening having a rectangular shape, said middle opening being configured for nesting a cable tie within.
9. A method for repurposing a cable tie, the method for repurposing the cable tie including the step of:
inserting a tip of a cable tie within a initial opening of a top surface of a head, pulling the tip through said initial opening to nest a body of the cable tie within said initial opening;
folding the cable tie to position the tip facing towards said head, said tip abutting said body of said cable tie;
inserting the tip of the cable tie within a middle opening of a bottom surface of said head, pulling the tip through said middle opening to nest the body of the cable tie within said middle opening of said head;
folding the cable tie to position the tip facing towards said head, said body of said cable being nested within said initial opening and said middle opening;
inserting the tip of the cable tie within a lock opening of said top surface of said head, pulling the tip of the cable tie through said lock opening to position the body of the cable tie within said lock opening, a protrusion of said lock opening engaging with a clasp locking fastener of the cable tie, said protrusion restrains the cable tie from reverse direction, the body of the cable tie forming a loop upon a top surface of said head; and
an item being secured to the cable tie by being enclosed within said loop prior to fastening by pulling on the tip of the cable tie.
