The safety lock assembly comprisesbutton 116 nested withinhousing 114 and at least oneelongate pin 118 having an outer end that extends throughhandle 100 and into apin slot 120 located within the container panel that handle 100 is attached to. The extension of the outer end of the at least onepin 118 intopin slot 120 locks rotational movement inhandle 100 and thereby prevents the at least onecam 104 from rotating and retracting out ofcam slot 106, as described above. Visible inFIG. 5 , the at least onepin 118 comprises an inner end having anangled surface 124 andbutton 116 comprises an interior having an angledinterior surface 126, whereinangled surface 124 andangled surface 126 are substantially parallel in alignment.Pressing button 116 indirection 128 intohandle 100 slidably engages angledsurface 126 againstangled surface 124, which actuates the at least onepin 118 indirection 130. Actuation of the at least onepin 118 indirection 130 retracts the outer end of the at least onepin 118 out ofpin slot 120 and unlocks rotational movement inhandle 100. In some embodiments, handle 100 comprises a spring force provided by aspring 122, a raised tab, or other structure that returnspin 118 andbutton 116 to their original position oncebutton 116 is released. - The present invention also provides foldable storage container devices incorporating the safety lock and release handles described elsewhere herein. The devices have an unfolded configuration and a folded configuration, wherein the folded configuration occupies a volume that is smaller than the volume of the unfolded configuration, thereby saving space.
- Referring now to
