Description

  • This nonprovisional application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. §119(a) to Ukrainian Patent Application No. a 2014 00802, which was filed in Ukraine on Jan. 28, 2014, and which is herein incorporated by reference.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to an exercise device for practicing in delivery of knockout strikes, speed and power of strikes made by hands, legs and head performed by practitioners of various martial arts at training-centres, sports halls, apartments, houses or in field conditions.
  • 2. Description of the Background Art
  • The exercise device for practicing in delivery of strikes named “Shylov's Camertone”, utility model patent RU95534 (A63B69/00, date of issuance 10 Jul., 2010, Russian Federation) is known. The device consists of a base, a striking area with buffer coating, a back wall for resistance to striking area with a bumper plate and stiffness adjuster for striking area.
  • The shortcoming of the the known device is a long-stroke amplitude resulting in decrease of speed during striking in place between the striking area and the back resistant wall and it makes the practice in power-intensive accelerating strikes impossible and thus, allows working out only power of a strike without any speed sense. Furthermore, due to long-stroke amplitude of the striking area it is not possible to guarantee perpendicularity of the striking area and a fist during a pack of quick punches and thus, it creates a risk of potential injury to a fist as well as to muscles and tendons of a wrist. The static fixing of the device eliminates the possibility of more accurate choice and sense of distance and respectively, there is no possibility to work out strikes while change of positions of a simulated opponent and to develop capability to deliver concentrated penetrating strikes of different kinds, namely direct, side, upper and under strikes from various positions. Massiveness of the device and difficulty in its transportation in case of change of a training site may be also considered as shortcomings.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is therefore an object of the present invention to raise effectiveness and intensity of the training by virtue of improvement of technique, speed and power of concentrated penetrating knockout strike by means of a simple and easy-to-use exercise device which could provide respective resistance to practitioner's strike and ensure short-stroke distance without speed loss.
  • In an embodiment, the object was resolved by development of a new exercise device for developing of capability to deliver knockout concentrated penetrating strikes of different types and for practicing in technique of delivery, speed and power of knockout strikes. The device includes a base and a striking area plate with buffering coating, where the base has two parallel bars fixed to two handles, at the same time, the striking area plate with buffering coating is fixed through the pads-dampers to the support plate attached to the base.
  • The pads-dampers are made of rubber and disposed between the striking area plate and the support plate.
  • The practice at the present device allows practitioner to improve technique, speed and power of concentrated penetrating strike in a wide range of striking-penetrative methods (actions) while simple and easy use.
  • Further scope of applicability of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description given hereinafter. However, it should be understood that the detailed description and specific examples, while indicating preferred embodiments of the invention, are given by way of illustration only, since various changes and modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from this detailed description.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given hereinbelow and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus, are not limitive of the present invention, and wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a general view of an exercise device;
  • FIG. 2 is a frontal view of an exercise device;
  • FIG. 3 is a plan view of an exercise device; and
  • FIG. 4 is a side view of an exercise device.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The present exercise device for developing of capability to deliver knockout concentrated penetrating strikes of different types and for practicing in technique of delivery, speed and power of knockout strikes has a base 1 comprising of two parallel bars 2 fixed to two handles 3 and a striking area plate 4 with buffering coating 5 fixed through the pads-dampers 6 to the support plate 7 attached to the base 1 (FIG. 1 to 4).
  • The parallel bars 2 are attached to the handles 3 by means of four bolts 8 with nuts 9 (FIG. 3).
  • The support plate 7 is fixed to the base 1 by means of four bolts 10 with nuts 11 (FIG. 3).
  • The striking area plate 4 is fixed to the support plate 7 through the pads-dampers 6 by means of four key bolts 12 with nuts 13 (FIG. 4).
  • The parallel bars and handles of the base may be of materials of adequate strength and low specific density (wood, composite materials, metal). The most preferable materials for manufacture of the parallel bars and the handles are various hardwood such as oak, beechwood, ash, hornbeam, etc.
  • The support plate and the striking area pate are manufactured from plywood, for example FK, etc. which combines lightness, flexibility and strength. It should be noted that such a material is load resisting and shock-resistant. It is also possible to manufacture the support plate out of solid wood or glued laminated wood using flexible or hardwood (oak, beechwood, ash, hornbeam). The coating of the striking area plate is layered and made out soft and injury-free materials, for example, sponge rubber or polymeric material which is covered at least one layer of soft fabric or strip in order to ensure safety of practitioners.
  • Sizes of the support plate and the striking area plate may significantly vary. For example, width of the support plate and the striking area plate may be from 150 to 300 mm and height may be from 150 to 400 mm. Meanwhile, depth of the support plate and the striking area plate may vary in the range from 8 to 20 mm, depending on their sizes and material used for their manufacture.
  • The pads-dampers are disposed between the support plate and the striking area plate and are made of rubber. They may be easily replaced by pads out of rubber having various stiffness characteristics. Change of a set of rubber dampers having various degree of stiffness allows to complicate or simplify practice in proper knockout striking and enables either a beginner or a professional to feel proper delivery of a strike.
  • Owing to cushioned pads-dampers the suggested construction of the device ensures resistance to the impact of practitioner's strike and slow response, i.e. without loss of speed. The pads-dampers can be easily replaced by other pads with more or less degree of stiffness depending on achieved results of a practitioner. A click which means a touch of the striking area plate with the support plate informs that a strike was made properly. It is very important method of self-check. Having obtained a steady result, for example 100 strikes with clicking out of 100 delivered ones, it is necessary to complicate the task by means of replacing pad-damper and/or by means of complicating the task itself, for example, to deliver strikes in uncomfortable position.
  • The device is easily mounted on a wall, tree, punching bag, but the most important feature is a portability of the device during practice, i.e. n assistant can hold the device (or suddenly change its position) at any level, using any angle towards a practitioner who delivers a strike or a pack of strikes. Thus, the device develops capability to deliver concentrated penetrating strikes of different kinds, namely direct, side, upper and under strikes as well as to deliver them from various positions, namely standing, sitting, lying.
  • The present device works as follows. During a strike by hand or leg at the striking area plate there is a reduction of rubber pads-dampers. Movement of the striking area plate is considered to be complete and a strike is considered to be properly delivered in case if the striking area plate touches closely the support plate resulting in a click. After a strike the striking area plate resets due to stiffness of rubber pads-dampers and the device is ready for further strike or pack of strikes.
  • The use of the suggested device allows to develop capability to deliver knockout concentrated penetrating strikes of different kinds and to practice in technique of delivery, speed and power of knockout strikes.
  • The invention being thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are to be included within the scope of the following claims.
