Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to decorative gift bows. In particular, preferred embodiments of the invention relate to bow assemblies that are provided with removable tab liners.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • It is known in the art to provide a bow collection 2 having a plurality of bow assemblies 4. Referring to FIGS. 1A-1C, the bow collection 2 is provided with a transparent package, such as a clear plastic bag 6, which contains the bow assemblies 4. To enhance consumer options, the bow assemblies 4 are provided with differently colored bows, such as a red-colored bow 8 a, an orange-colored bow 8 b, a yellow-colored bow 8 c, a green-colored bow 8 d, a blue-colored bow 8 e, and a violet-colored bow 8 f. Each of the bow assemblies 4 are provided with an adhesive tab 10. Removable tab liners 12 are applied to the adhesive tabs 10 during storage, and the liners 12 are removed prior to adhering the bows 8 a-f to the gift package. A staple 14 is provided through each removable tab liner 12 and adhesive tab 10 to fasten the adhesive tab 10 to the corresponding one of bows 8 a-f.
  • It is known in the art to provide removable tab liners 12, where each one of the removable tab liners 12 are the same color as each other one of the removable tab liners 12. Examples of prior art liners 12 include where all removable tab liners 12 in the bow collection 2 are white or where all tab liners 12 in the bow collection 2 are the same solid color, such as red, for example. It is also known in the art to provide removable tab liners 12 or adhesive tabs 10 as a transparent material, and it is further known to provide the removable tab liners 12 with printing that says “peel here,” for example. What is needed in the art is an improved bow collection for enhanced presentation at the point of sale.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention overcomes the disadvantages and shortcomings of the prior art by providing a color-coordinated bow collection. In preferred embodiments, the bow collection is suitable for display at the point-of-sale and comprises a plurality of bow assemblies. A first bow assembly includes a bow having a first color, and a second bow assembly includes a second bow having a second color different than the first color. The first bow assembly includes a first visually-perceptible tab element having the first color, and the second bow assembly includes a second visually-perceptible tab element having the second color. It is contemplated that the visually-perceptible tab element can comprise a removable tab liner or other structure that is visually-perceptible at the point of sale.
  • In preferred embodiments, a first removable tab liner is in secured arrangement with the first bow and has the first color. A second removable tab liner is in secured arrangement with the second bow and has the second color. The bow assemblies preferably include adhesive tabs positioned between the removable tab liners and the bows.
  • Additional features, functions and benefits of the disclosed color-coordinated bow collection will be apparent from the detailed description which follows, particularly when read in conjunction with the accompanying figures.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • For a more complete understanding of the present invention, reference is made to the following detailed description of exemplary embodiment(s) considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1A is a prior art bow collection, including a plurality of prior art bow assemblies;
  • FIG. 1B is an exploded bottom perspective view of a selection of the prior art bow assemblies of FIG. 1A;
  • FIG. 1C is an exploded top perspective view of the selection of prior art bow assemblies of FIG. 1B;
  • FIG. 2 is a bow collection constructed in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the bow collection of the present invention being shown to include a plurality of bow assemblies each having a colored bow and a removal tab liner color-coordinated therewith;
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded bottom perspective view of a selection of the bow assemblies of the present invention of FIG. 2; and
  • FIG. 4 is an exploded top perspective view of the selection of bow assemblies of the present invention shown in FIG. 3.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EXEMPLARY EMBODIMENTS
  • Referring to FIGS. 2-4, a bow collection 102 is shown constructed in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The bow collection 102 includes a plurality of bow assemblies 104, which can be contained by a transparent packaging, such as a clear plastic bag 106, for display at a point of sale. Any suitable packaging known in the art can be provided.
  • Each of the bow assemblies 104 includes one of a plurality of colored bows 108 a-f and further includes a respective one of a plurality of visually-perceptible tab elements. In preferred embodiments, each bow assembly 104 includes an adhesive tab 110, and the visually-perceptible tab element comprises one of a plurality of removable tab liners 112 a-f that are color-coordinated with the bows 108 a-f, respectively.
  • It is contemplated that the visually-perceptible tab element can comprise additional or alternative structure(s) to the tab liners 112 a-f. For example, it is contemplated that the visually-perceptible tab element can comprise the adhesive tab, where each individual adhesive tab is color-coordinated with its respective one of the bows (and where a transparent removable liner is provided, for example). Because each visually-perceptible tab element (or at least the visually-perceptible surface thereof) is color-coordinated to that bow secured therewith, the collection is presented with reduced heterogeneity so as to be more pleasing to the eye.
  • The bow assemblies 104 of the collection 102 include bows 108 a-f of different colors. For example, the bow assemblies 104 can be provided with a red-colored bow 108 a, an orange-colored bow 108 b, a yellow-colored bow 108 c, a green-colored bow 108 d, a blue-colored bow 108 e, and a violet-colored bow 108 f. The bow collection 102 preferably includes at least one bow of a first color (e.g., red-colored bow 108 a) and at least one bow of a second color (e.g., green-colored bow 108 d), such that the bow collection 102 includes at least two different colored bows. It is contemplated that the bow collection 102 can include any number of differently-colored bows, such as the foregoing six different colors, for example. It is further contemplated that the bow collection 102 can include any total number of bows and any number of bows of the same color, such as eighteen bows, including three of each of the six colors, or any other suitable combination thereof. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet are disclosed herein for the purpose of example and any suitable solid color or other color is contemplated. For example, solid colors are contemplated, such as metallic green, silver, gold. As another example, non-solid colors are contemplated, such as where the color is a colored pattern having a combination of qualities act, tendencies, etc. forming a consistent and/or characteristic arrangement.
  • Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, the adhesive tabs 110 are provided in secured arrangement with the corresponding one of bows 108 a-f. Each adhesive tab 110 includes an adhesive layer disposed on a backing layer, wherein the adhesive layer is disposed opposite the corresponding bow 108 a-f for adhering the bow 108 a-f to a gift or package. Suitable adhesives layers and backing layers are known in the art, such as one of any number of resin-based or acrylic polymer based pressure sensitive adhesives dispersed onto a cellulose, polypropylene or PVC film carrier. By way of non-limiting example, the adhesive commercialized as “Royal Adhesive 20489” is contemplated. A fastener, such as a staple 114, mechanically secures the adhesive tab 110 to its corresponding one of bows 108 a-f.
  • Continuing with the preferred embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, each one of the removable tab liners 112 a-f are provided as the visually-perceptible tab element and are color-coordinated with the corresponding one of the bows 108 a-f. For example, the liner 112 a has a red color and is in secured arrangement with the red-colored bow 108 a, the liner 112 b has an orange color and is in secured arrangement with the orange-colored bow 108 b, the liner 112 c has a yellow color and is in secured arrangement with the yellow-colored bow 108 c, the liner 112 d has a green color and is in secured arrangement with the green-colored bow 108 d, the liner 112 e has a blue color and is in secured arrangement with the blue-colored bow 108 e, and the liner 112 f has a violet color and is in secured arrangement with the violet-colored bow 108 f. The coloring of the liners 112 a-f is preferably included at least in the surface(s) thereof that are visually-perceptible, including surfaces of the liners 112 a-f facing opposite the adhesive tab 110, for example. Each one of the removable tab liners 112 a-f includes a suitable release agent known in the art, such as a silicone-based release agent or low-surface tension coating, for example. The removable tab liners 112 are in secured relation with the adhesive tab 110 during storage and are configured for removal just prior to application of the bow 108 to the gift package via adhesive tab 110.
  • It will be understood that the embodiments of the present invention described herein are merely exemplary and that a person skilled in the art may make many variations and modifications without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. All such variations and modifications, including those discussed above, are intended to be included within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
