Abstract

A floor drain cover includes a draining frame, a net-shaped disk mounted in the top wall of the draining frame, a fixing bracket mounted on the draining frame, a movable lid pivotally mounted on the fixing bracket and movable relative to the draining frame, and a rubber pad mounted on the movable lid and movable to seal the bottom wall of the draining frame. Thus, when the ambient waste water in the floor drain flows toward the draining frame, the movable lid is pressed by the pressure of the ambient waste water so that the movable lid moves the rubber pad to seal the bottom wall of the draining frame, thereby preventing the ambient waste water in the floor drain from flowing backward, and preventing the floor from being contaminated by the ambient waste water.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a cover and, more particularly, to a floor drain cover that is mounted on a floor to cover a floor drain.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • A conventional floor drain cover comprises a draining frame mounted on and extended into a floor drain of a floor and a net-shaped disk mounted in the draining frame to provide a filtering function. Thus, the indoor water is allowed to pass through the net-shaped disk and the draining frame into the floor drain of the floor so that the indoor water on the floor can be drained outward from the floor drain of the floor. However, when the ambient waste water in the floor drain flows toward the draining frame due to an irregular condition, the ambient waste water is directly introduced through the net-shaped disk and the draining frame into the floor so that the floor will be contaminated by the ambient waste water.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a floor drain cover, comprising a draining frame having an open top wall and an open bottom wall, a net-shaped disk mounted in the top wall of the draining frame, a fixing bracket mounted on the draining frame, a movable lid pivotally mounted on the fixing bracket and movable relative to the draining frame, and a rubber pad mounted on the movable lid to move in concert with the movable lid and movable to abut and seal the bottom wall of the draining frame.
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a floor drain cover that can prevent waste water from flowing backward in a floor drain.
  • According to the primary objective of the present invention, when the ambient waste water in the floor drain flows toward the draining frame due to an irregular condition, the movable lid is pressed by the pressure applied by the ambient waste water so that the movable lid is pivoted and moved upward to move the rubber pad to seal the bottom wall of the draining frame so as to close the bottom wall of the draining frame and to interrupt the connection between the draining frame and the floor drain, thereby preventing the ambient waste water in the floor drain from flowing backward into the draining frame and the floor, and thereby preventing the floor from being contaminated by the ambient waste water.
  • Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a floor drain cover in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the floor drain cover as shown in FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 is a front cross-sectional view of the floor drain cover as shown in FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 4 is a schematic operational view of the floor drain cover as shown in FIG. 3 in use.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-3, a floor drain cover 1 in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a draining frame 11 having an open top wall 110 and an open bottom wall 112, a net-shaped disk 12 mounted in the top wall 110 of the draining frame 11, a fixing bracket 13 mounted on the draining frame 11, a movable lid 14 pivotally mounted on the fixing bracket 13 and movable relative to the draining frame 11, and a rubber pad 17 mounted on the movable lid 14 to move in concert with the movable lid 14 and movable to abut and seal the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11.
  • The draining frame 11 is mounted on and extended into a floor drain 2 of a floor 3. The draining frame 11 has a funnel shape and has a mediate portion formed with a tapered guide surface 114 disposed between the top wall 110 and the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11. The draining frame 11 has a periphery provided with two opposite fixing pieces 111 secured to the floor 3. The top wall 110 of the draining frame 11 has a size greater than that of the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11.
  • The rubber pad 17 is disposed between the movable lid 14 and the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11 and has a bottom face abutting a top face of the movable lid 14 and a top face that is movable to abut and seal the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11.
  • The fixing bracket 13 is located outside of the draining frame 11 and is mounted on a periphery of the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11.
  • The movable lid 14 is located under the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11 and is received in the floor drain 2. The movable lid 14 has a periphery provided with a pivot bracket 141 pivotally mounted on the fixing bracket 13 by a pivot pin 15. The pivot pin 15 extends through the pivot bracket 141 of the movable lid 14 and the fixing bracket 13. An elastic member 16 is mounted on the pivot pin 15 and has a distal end formed with an extension 161 pressing the top face of the movable lid 14. The elastic member 16 is received in the fixing bracket 13.
  • The movable lid 14 has a central portion formed with a through hole 140, the rubber pad 17 has a central portion formed with a fixing hole 170, and a fastening member 18 is extended through the through hole 140 of the movable lid 14 and the fixing hole 170 of the rubber pad 17 to attach the rubber pad 17 to the movable lid 14.
  • In operation, referring to FIGS. 3 and 4 with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, when the indoor water flows through the net-shaped disk 12 into the draining frame 11 to contact the rubber pad 17, the rubber pad 17 is pushed by the gravity of the indoor water to press the movable lid 14 so that the movable lid 14 is pivoted and moved downward to open the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11 as shown in FIG. 3, thereby allowing the indoor water to flow through the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11 into the floor drain 2.
  • On the contrary, when ambient waste water in the floor drain 2 flows upward to contact the movable lid 14, the movable lid 14 is pressed by the pressure applied by the ambient waste water so that the movable lid 14 is pivoted and moved upward to compress the elastic member 16 and to move the rubber pad 17 to seal the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11 so as to close the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11 as shown in FIG. 4, thereby preventing the ambient waste water in the floor drain 2 from flowing backward into the draining frame 11 and the floor 3, and thereby preventing the floor 3 from being contaminated by the ambient waste water.
  • Accordingly, when the ambient waste water in the floor drain 2 flows toward the draining frame 11 due to an irregular condition, the movable lid 14 is pressed by the pressure applied by the ambient waste water so that the movable lid 14 is pivoted and moved upward to move the rubber pad 17 to seal the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11 so as to close the bottom wall 112 of the draining frame 11 and to interrupt the connection between the draining frame 11 and the floor drain 2, thereby preventing the ambient waste water in the floor drain 2 from flowing backward into the draining frame 11 and the floor 3, and thereby preventing the floor 3 from being contaminated by the ambient waste water.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
