The lockingmember 21 is integrally formed with the releasingmember 26 and therefore moves together with the releasingmember 26. In order to mount thedust collection unit 40, the lockingmember 21 is inserted in theconnection recess 11 formed on thecleaner body 10, and thehook part 21 a formed at the lower part of the lockingmember 21 is locked in theconnection recess 11 having a flattened U-shape. When separating thedust collection unit 40 from thecleaner body 10, the lockingmember 21 is moved in the direction F1 ofFIG. 3 , thereby releasing connection between thedust collection unit 40 and thecleaner body 10. - Referring to
FIGS. 2 and 3 , thegear member 24 is disposed between thepartition 23 and the releasingmember 26 inside thecover part 20. According to the present embodiment, thegear member 24 is integrally formed with the releasingmember 26. As thebutton member 22 is pivoted, thepartition 23 is rotated thereby pressing one side of thegear member 24. Consequently, thegear member 24 moves the releasingmember 26 in the direction F1. - Referring to
FIG. 2 , thespring 28 biases the releasingmember 26 with one end thereof at the bottom side of thecover part 20. The other end of thespring 28 is fixed to one side of the bottom side 20-2 of thecover part 20. When a force is applied to thebutton member 22 in an arrowed direction F4, the releasingmember 26 is moved in the direction F1 ofFIG. 3 , and thespring 28 is compressed. When the force applied in the direction F4 is removed, the releasingmember 26 is restored by a recovery force of thespring 28 and accordingly, thebutton member 22 is restored to its initial position. - When the user grabs the
handle 20 a to hold thedust collection unit 40 and presses one side of thebutton member 22, thebutton member 22 is pivoted by a predetermined angle in the direction F4. As a result, thepartition 23 protruded on thebutton member 22 moves thegear member 24 to the rear side by a predetermined distance W. When thegear member 24 is moved, the lockingmember 21 in connection with the releasingmember 26 is moved to a releasing position P2, as being engaged with theconnection recess 11 of thecleaner body 10. Here, thehook part 21 a formed at the lockingmember 21 has length preferably equal to or greater than the predetermined distance W for engagement with theconnection recess 11 of thecleaner body 10. Thus, thedust collection unit 40 can be separated from thecleaner body 10 by the operation of the lockingunit 60. Here, rotation of thebutton 22 induces linear motion of the releasingmember 24 because the releasingmember 24 fixed in the semi-restricted state by thecover part 20 and thescrew 50 moves along theslit 51 formed at the releasingmember 24. - Meanwhile, as the
button member 22 is pressed to separate thedust collection unit 40 from thecleaner body 10, thegrab space 27 is formed between thecover part 20 and thebutton member 22 and exposed to the outside, so that the user is able to hold and lift thedust collection unit 40 by inserting his/her fingers in thegrab space 27. It is preferred that thegrab space 27 is formed near the user's side for convenient use. - When the force pressing the
button member 22 is removed to release connection between thedust collection unit 40 and thecleaner body 10, thespring 28 mounted to one side of the releasingmember 26 and the rear side of thecover 20 restores thebutton member 22 to the initial position. In other words, when thebutton member 22 is pressed, the releasingmember 26 is moved to the rear side thereby compressing thespring 28. When the external force is removed from thebutton member 22, on the contrary, thebutton member 22 is restored to the initial position by the recovery force of thecompressed spring 28. Also, the lockingmember 21 is moved to a connecting position P1, thereby locking thedust collection unit 40 to thecleaner body 10. - Hereinafter, the operation of mounting and separating the
dust collection unit 40 with respect to thecleaner body 10 will be described with reference toFIGS. 1 through 5 . - When the user mounts the
dust collection unit 40 of thecleaner body 10, the user presses thebutton member 22. Simultaneously, the user grabs thedust collection unit 40 by inserting his/her fingers in thegrab space 27 and inserts thedust collection unit 40 in the mountingportion 15 formed on thecleaner body 10 in an arrowed direction F. In order to guide thedust collection unit 40 to the correct position of thecleaner body 10, theprotrusion 25 is set to theguide recess 13 formed on thecleaner body 10. - More specifically, when the user presses the
button member 22, thepartition 23 integrally formed with thebutton member 22 is pivoted on thehinge 29 by the predetermined angle in the direction F4. Therefore, the releasingmember 26 contacted with thepartition 23 is moved in the direction F1. At this time, the releasingmember 26 connected with thecleaner body 10 through thescrew 50 inserted in theslit 51 is linearly moved in the direction F1 along theslit 51. - According to this, the locking
member 21 fixed to both ends of the releasingmember 26 is moved in the direction F1. To summarize, as the user presses thebutton member 22, the lockingmember 21 is moved to the releasing position P2. When the user inserts thedust collection unit 40 in thecleaner body 10 with thebutton member 22 pressed and removes the force for pressing thebutton member 22, the releasingmember 26 is moved to the connecting position P1 by the recovery force of thespring 28 and accordingly, the lockingmember 21 mounted to the releasingmember 26 is also moved to the connecting position P1. Simultaneously, thegear member 24 protruded on the releasingmember 26 is moved in the direction F1, thereby pushing thepartition 23 in thedirection 23 so that thebutton member 22 is restored to the initial position. - Separation of the
dust collection unit 40 from thecleaner body 10 can be achieved by performing the above processes in the reverse order. - According to the embodiment of the present invention, the user can grab the
dust collection unit 40, and mount and separate thedust collection unit 40 with respect to thecleaner body 10 with one hand simultaneously. Therefore, mounting and separation of thedust collection unit 40 can be more facilitated than when using a conventional dust collection unit mounting/separating device. - As can be appreciated from the above description of the vacuum cleaner according to the embodiment of the present invention, the
grab space 27 is formed as thebutton member 22 formed on thecover part 20 is pressed so that thedust collection unit 40 can be lifted and separated from thecleaner body 10. As a consequence, thedust collection unit 40 can be separated with only one hand. - Furthermore, since the
grab space 27 is formed only when the user intends to mount and separate thedust collection unit 40, appearance of the vacuum cleaner can be improved. - While the invention has been shown and described with reference to certain embodiments thereof, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes in form and details may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
