Description

W. W. HART. Folding-Table.
No. 200,057. Patented Feb. 5, I878.
W'TNESS-S INVENTOR ATTOR N EYS ing, in which UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE.
WILLIAM W. HART, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO FRED. H. SEYMOUR,
OF SAME PLACE.
FOL'DING TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 200,057, dated February 5, 1878; application filed July 31, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLLAM W. HART, of the city of Detroit, county of Wayne, and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Adjustable Folding Tables, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying draw- Figure 1 is a perspective viewof the table with lowest adjustment for use; Fig. 2, a front view of the same, showing the bed of the table raised; Fig. 3, a view of the same as it appears when made portable by folding, and Fig. 4 a bottom-plan view of my table as folded.
The object of my invention is to furnish a table which can readily be adjusted to diflerent heights, and folded so as to be portable, and require little space when not in use.
In the drawings, A is the bed of the table. B and O are the leg-frames, joined together by the pivot G. The leg-frame B is attached to the bed of the table by ordinary butts and screws. The leg-frame O is made shorter and smaller than the leg-frame B, so as to fold within the frame B when desirable, as shown in Fig. 3.
D is a guard, made of strong wire, and attached to the bed of the table at both ends, designed to allow the adjustment of the legframe 0, and at the same time prevent its falling away from the bed of the table. E is a stop, made of wire, pivoted to, the table-bed, operating against the bar of the leg-frame O, for the purpose of retaining its adjusted position. F is an intermediate stop, which also acts as a look when turned over the lower connecting-bar H of the leg-frame O, as shown in Fig. 3.
It is evident from the foregoing that the height of the bed of the table may be varied by moving the top of the leg-frame O to or from the other leg-frame, the stops being adjusted to the required position.
It is obvious that the table may be moved about with safety, as the guard D operates to lift the leg-frame O with the bed A, the other being secured to it with butts.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A folding table having the long leg-frame B and the shorter leg-frame C, the guard D, and Stops E and F, constructed and arranged, with reference to the bed A, substantially as specified. 1
