The hereindisclosed method of making a table ornament of the character described, which consists in slitting a substantially rectangular piece of vsheet metal from opposite ends toward the center to divide said piece of sheet metal into a plurality of parallel ribbon-like strips at opposite sides of a central unslit portion, bending the sheet transversely so that its unslit portion provides a band substantially in the shape of an arch, attaching the ends of said arched bandA to a base, bending the ribbon-like strips up from said ribbon-like strips.
