A further and more specific object is to provide a device of the character disclosed comprising a body formed at its upper end with a lateral extension having an elongated opening therein through which a portion of the handkerchief may be threaded with the corners of the handkerchief projecting upwardly from the upper portion of the holder, and whereby when the handkerchief with the holder attached thereto is subsequently inserted into the pocket of a ladys or gentlemans garment, the handkerchief will project from the pocket with the corners thereof neatly and pleasingly arranged.

Other objects of the invention reside in the novel construction of the device whereby a handkerchief may be quickly attached thereto in such a manner that when the device and handkerchief are subsequently inserted into a pocket, the corners of the handkerchief will be neatly projected from the top of the pocket; in the provision of such a device having means for receiving a portion of a handkerchief to retain the corners thereof in proper order, and suitable openings being provided in the body of the device through which portions of a handkerchief may be threaded to inseparably secure the device thereto; in the provision of such a device which may economically be manufactured out of a single piece of wire; and in the provision of such a device which is extremely simple and inexpensive in construction and which provides a very simple and eflicient and practical device for supporting a handkerchief in the pocket of a coat or other garment, when it is desified the corners of the handkerchief shall project from the top of the pocket in a neat and attractive manner.

Other objects of the invention will appear from the following description and the accompanying drawing and will be pointed out in the annexed claims.

The novel handkerchief holder herein disclosed is shown constructed of a single piece of wire bent upon itself to form what may well be termed a body, herein designated by the numeral 2. To form the body 2, the wire in its normal straightened condition, is bent upon itself intermediate I of its ends to form an elongated loop 3, after which the wire is preferably twisted, as indicated at 4, to interlock the two legs 5 of the wire and to retain the loop 3 in its proper relation with respect to the body 2. The legs 5 are subsequently bent outwardly and upwardly at 6, in opposite directions, and have their end portions 1 terminating adjacent to the loop 3, as best shown in Figure 2. r

The twisted portion 4 of the wire is bent to position the loop 3 at substantially right angles to the plane of the body 2, and whereby the loop 3 is disposed in offset relation to said plane.

By thus forming the device, it will be noted the spaced leg portions 5 of the body 2 are resiliently retained in the position shown in Figures 1 and 2,

its upper end provided with an elongated opening 13 adapted to receive the handkerchief. The holder 9 may be formed from suitable sheetmaterial or it may readily be molded of various plastic materials suitable for the purpose.

The device has been found very practical and that I have accomplished at least the principal objects of my invention, and it will also be apparent to those skilled in the art that the embodiments herein described may be variously changed and modified without departing from the spirit of the invention, and that the invention is capable of uses and has advantages not herein specifically described; hence it will be appreciated that the herein disclosed embodiments are illustrative only, and that my invention is not limited thereto.

I claim as my invention:

1. In a holder of the class described, a flat-like body having a lateral extension at its upper end provided with an elongated opening for receiving and supporting a handkerchief, and said body comprising a plurality of resiliently connected eleuseful to support a handkerchief in a mans coat Y pocket, as shown in Figure 4. It is well known that it sometimes takes considerable time to fold a handkerchief in such a manner that when inserted into a pocket it will project therefrom in a neat and orderly fashion. By the use of the novel device hereindisclosed, the handkerchief is simply threaded through the loop 3 and pulled downwardly .therethrough. until the corners of the handkerchief project from the upper end of the device, as shown in Figure 2. The lower portion 8 of the handkerchief may then be folded around the bottom end of the body 2, after which the device may be inserted. into a pocket, as shown in Figure 5. If desired, the portion 8 of the handkerchief may be intucked between the resilient leg portions 5 and l of the device, thereby to retain the handkerchief in a certain position upon the device, when the latter is inserted into or removed from the pocket.

In the drawing Ihave shown the device constructed of a single piece of wire. It isto be. understood, however, that it may be. constructed of other materials, as, for example,,plastics, or sheet metal. Also in the construction hereindisclosed, the portions of the wire which are interlocked by twisting, as shown at 4, to secure them together, may be otherwise secured together, if desired, as, for example, by soldering or welding. Twisting the wires as shown at 4 in Figure 3, however, provides a verysimple operation and provides a very practical and. rugged structure which may be manufactured in quantity production at extremely low cost.

It will be apparent to those skilled in the art ments disposed in the plane of the body and between which portions of the handkerchief may be inserted to retain the handkerchief in the holder.

In a'holder of the class described, a fiat-like body'having a lateral-extension at its upper end provided with an elongated opening for receiving and supporting a handkerchief, and said body comprising a plurality of spaced elements between which'portions of the handkerchief may be inserted to retain the handkerchief in the holder, and said body and lateral extension being formed from a single piece of wire.

3. In a holder of the class described, a fiat-like body formed froma single piece of wire having a portion shaped to provide an elongated loop, and said loop being disposed at the extreme top end of the device in substantially right angular relation to the plane-of said body with its long axis disposed'in parallel relation to the width of the body.
