Description
Patented Apr. 241, 1934 EXTRA TOWEL HOLDER Alwine Bernhardt, New York, N. Y.
Application May 10, 1933, Serial No. 670361 2 Claims.
This invention relatesto an extra towel holder and has for an object to provide an improved towel holder which may be added to a conventional towel holder so- `as to provide extra towel 6 holding space without making use' of any additional wall space. i
A further object of 'this invention is to provide an extra towel holder which may be easily and quickly added to a conventional towel holder 10 without interfering with the towel holding Capacity of the conventional towel holder.
Still another object of this invention is to provide an extra towel holder especially useful in homes and apartments of limited space, which will cooperate with a conventional towel holder so as to double the capacity of the conventional towel holder and which will hold the extra towels out of contact with the towels on the conventional towel holder so that the towel or towels on either holder may be used and dried independently without afifecting the towel or towels on the other towel holder.
With the foregoing and other objeets in View, as will hereinafter become apparent, this invention comprises the combinations, constructions,
and arrangements of parts hereinafter set forth,
claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a perspective View of the extra towel holder in operative position;
Figure '2 is a top plan view of the same; Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
There is shown at 10 a representation of a kitchen orbath room wall to which is secured a conventional towel holder 11 by means of a pair of brackets 12 nailed or otherwise Secured thereto as at 13, the towel holding rack 11 being otglass, porcelain or'other suitable material.
As will be observed, the brackets 12 consist of two arms 14 and 15-, the arms 14, the arm 15 and the wall 10 Iorming a right triangleoi' which the' arm 15 is the hypotenuse and the arm 14 is the longer leg.
The extra towel holder comprising this invention includes a towel holding rack 16 similar in all respects to the towel holding rack 11 but secured instead to a bracket 17. This bracket 17 .50 consists of a short leg 18 which ends in a curved, hooked portion 19 and a long leg 20 which ends in support contacting means end 21 which rests against the wall 10. The hook 19 on the leg 18 laps over or is supported on the rod 11 of the conventional towel holder.
As will be observed, the bracket 17 for the extra towel holding rod 16 forms a right triangle with the wall 10 if the leg 14 of the bracket 12 be considered as an extension of the leg 18 of the bracket 17 while the longer side 20 forms the hypotenuse of this right triangle. The rod 16 is thus spaced about the same distance from the rod 11 as the rod 11 is spaced from the wall 10, thus permitting towels 22 and 23 to beplaced on each of the rods 11 and 16 withoutcontacting or interfering with each other, either while hanging thereon or being removed therefrom. It is thus possible to make use of either towel while the other towel is in position thereby permitting the unused towel a longer time in which to dry after being used. No additional wall space is thus occupied by the extra towel 23.
It will also be understood that if desired another extra towel holder similar in all respects to the towel holding rod 16 and extra towel holding bracket 17 might be secured to and supported on the extra towel holder rod 16 in the same manner that this bracket 17 is secured and supported on the conventional towel holder rod 11.
It is to be understood from the forms of this invention herewith shown and described that they are to be taken as preferred examples of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. An extra towel holder for use with a conventional towel holding rod andlrod holding wall bracket and comprising an extra towel holder rod, a bracket supporting said extra towel holder rod, said latter bracket comprising a long leg and a short leg forming an acute angle therebetween, a hooked portion on the end of said short leg adapted to be snapped over the conventional towel holder rod and a turned down end on said longer leg adapted to be contacted to the wall on which the conventional towel holder bracket is secured.
2. .An extra towel holder adapted to cooperate with a conventional towel holder rod and pair ot brackets comprising an extra towel holder rod, a pair of extra towel holder brackets, said extra towel holder brackets supporting each end of said extra towel holder rod, said extra towel holder brackets each comprising a long leg and a short leg forming an acute angle therebetween,
said short leg ending in a hooked portion adapted to rest on a. conventional towel holder rod and be supported a distance from and at right angles to the bracket supporting wall and said longer leg being' adapted to extend to and rest against the bracket supporting wall on which the conventional towel holder brackets are supported. ALWINE BERNHARDT.
