WRINKLE ERADICATOR Filed March 5, 1950 BY I / AT RNEV Patented Mar. 7, 1933 stats ANNA n. VARELL, or nnwvon xgn. Y.
WRINKLE ERADICATOR Application filed March 5, 1930. Serial No. 433,261.
My inventionrelates to devices for eradicating the vertical wrinkle lines formed be tween the eyebrows as a result of the continued contraction of the muscles of the fore- I head adjacent the eyebrows, as by frowning.
These wrinkle lines, defining a ridge situ-.
ated between the eyes immediately above the nose, are developed by the frowning of the person, particularly during sleep when the individual is unable to control the muscles of the lower forehead. Women, to whom the use of my device will bear a special appeal, conscious of the marring effect of a frown upon their beauty, will usually refrain from frowning during the day as much as possible, but during sleep, when they are unable to control the impulses causing frowning, the inroads on beauty by the formation of wrinkles are most likely to occur.
It is well known among beauty experts that a definite ridge of substantial depth is formed at the place indicated by the contraction of the eyes in the course of frowning. Either one or two of suchvertical wrinkle lines may be formed and my invention is applicable to either condition with but a slight difference in the structure of my device.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device which can be applied to the forehead ina manner to exert a slight pressure upon the flesh immediately adjoining the vertical ridge forming the wrinkle and thereby press such flesh into the ridge or ridges and fill the same. The device, according to my invention, will press so very lightly upon the forehead that no interference whatever with the blood circulation is experienced, the pressure blocks of the device being of suflicient weight only to press lightly upon the flesh adjacent the wrinkle lines, thereby forcing that in the ridges outwardly.
In the accompanying drawing, in which specific embodiments of my invention are illustrated and in which similar reference characters identify similar parts in the several views,
Fig. 1 shows the device of my invention be passed an .theother end is provided with 20 for "engaging the flange through the aperture16 when the device is j to the band 18 at the in its position as applied to the forehead and the manner in which it is adapted to be secured in such position upon the head; v
Fig. 2 shows the device in approximately its actualsize with portions of the securing tapes, as viewed from the front;
Fig. 3 is a' section along line 33 of Fig. 2 showing the device just before it is'applied to the forehead and its position with respect to the frown wrinkle ridge sought to be eradicated; v
Fig. 4 is a section similar to Fig. 3 except that the device is shown in its applied position illustrating its action of pressing against the flesh adjacent the ridge. forcing the same inwardly at the same time permitting the flesh forming the base of. the ridge to be forced outwardly with the resultant eradication of-the wrinkle;
Fig. 5 shows the reverse side of of myinvention; and v Fig. 6 showsa form of my device having three insteadof two pressure bars for use in eradicating two wrinkle lines.
Broadly construed, my invention consists in the provision of a soft rubber pad 11 hav ing a plurality of bars 12 ofhard rubber adapted to straddlejthe wrinkle line 13. The pad 11 has, at its two ends, flanges 14, 15, having apertures16, 17 through which may elastic tape or band 18, one end of the latter being'turned back and after .passing. through aperture 17, permanently secured to thebody of the tape as at 19, while a hook element 14 by passing being appliedto the forehead.
edge of the pad 11 may be provided with a similar flange 21 to which may be attached elastic band 22 adapted to extend over the head of the wearer anld 13(1) be joined at its end In one embodiment of the invention illustrated, two bars 12 are used upon the pad 11. This form is for use when only a single vertical line is present between the eyebrows. When, however, two such accentuated vertical lines have been formed, defining two distinct ridges, the modification illustrated in The upper Fig. 6, having three bars and therefore two intermediate spaces, is to be used. The num ber of persons having a single frown line is about equal to that of those having two such vertical lines, while very few individuals have no such frown-caused wrinkle lines.- The device of my invention may therefore conveniently be made to order to lit the particular condition with respect to number of lines, size, and configuration. Thus, the body part of my made in different thicknesses, the thickest being designed for extreme cases in which a greater pressure is exerted, and the thinner for milder cases.
In applying my device to the forehead, it is placed in vposition as shown in Fig. 1 so that the little bars press upon the flesh portions immediately adjacent the wrinkles, and therebetween if a three bar device is used, forcing the flesh back into place where the lines had been made, filling in and smoothing the same. In applying the device, it may be drawn over thehead until the band 22 is tight against the head, the band having been previously adjusted to its proper length so that the task of exact placement of the device each time it is placed in position, will be simplified. When the pad hasbeen placed in its correct positon, the band 18 is brought about the head and its loose end hooked into the flange member 14.
It is obvious that the tapes or ribbons 18 and 22 may be made of silk or similar mate'- rial with only a small portion thereof being of an elastic material to fit'the device to all size heads and to hold the device securely in place. Various other modifications may be obviously made without departing from the invention.
I claim:
A device of the character described comprising a soft rubber pressure pad of substantially oblong. rectangular form having upon one face a plurality of transversely extend ing fixed bars of hard rubber and having rounded surfaces adapted to'be brought into contact with the portion of the lower forehead intermediate the eyebrows, and a band secured at'one end to an end portion of said pad and adapted to encircle the head to hold said pad in position, the free end of said band being adapted to be detachably secured to the other end portion of said pad.
