In a preferred embodiment of my machine I provide a slide, which is adapted to be d1splaced, a shaftwhich is mounted to rotate on the slide and is adapted to hold the blank `at its centre, and arrange my tools at opposite sides of the slide which are adapted to be displaced at right angles to the 'motion of the first-mentioned slide. These lateral slides support rolling tools which are rotated in the same direction. The axes of the rolling tools are parallel to the axis of the blank.. I may also arrange the first-mentioned sllde 1n a Vfixed position and so arrange to the two lateral slides with the rolling tools that they are displaced in parallel to the axis of the blank as well as at right angles thereto. The rolling operation is the same in both cases, The
machine rolls the blank into a rotary hollow element without a mandrel, as will be described below. f
It has already been proposed to roll shapes from sheet metal by means of Vrolls anda mandrel and to arrange the axes of the rolls and the mandrel parallel to each other, and to the axis of the shape but machines of this type are spinning and ianging machines in which the mandrel which I have eliminated, is indispensible. impracticable the manufacture of hollow shapes which are narrower at the top than at the bottom.
My machine has the advantage of extreme simplicity and reliability.
