This invention relates to a funeral marker for automobiles and while the invention is mainly designed for holding a marker, such as a plume it will of course be understood that the device can be used for holding other devices upon an automobile.
The general object of the invention is to provide a clamp for engaging one of the hinges of a door and having a socket therein for holding a staff or the like which carries the marker of the device.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure l is a perspective view of part of an automobile showing the invention in use.
Figure 2 is a View of the marker used for funerals.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the bracket.
Figure 4 is a sectional view through the same.
In these drawings the numeral 1 indicates a. clamp member or bracket which is of substantially channel shape with a threaded hole in the lower limb thereof for receiving the screw 2 and a depending projection 3 at the end of its other limb, the inner end of the screw and the projection each having a recess 4 therein for receiving the hinge pin of one of the door hinges I as shown in Figure 1. The bight part of the member 1 is provided with an elongated socket 6 which opens out through the top of the device for receiving the staff 7 of a marker.
As shown in Figures 1 and 2, this marker may include the wire stem 7 and a head 8 formed of wool or the like.

The device can be used for other purposes or as a decoration of the automobile.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is 1. In combination with an automobile and its door hinge, a clamp consisting of the U- shaped member including upper and lower horizontal limbs, a set screw passing through the lower limb, the upper limb having a depending projection, the inner end of the screw and the end of the projection having recesses therein for receiving the ends of the hinge pin and a socket in the member opening out through the top thereof for re ceiving a shaft of a marker.
2. A device for marking funeral cars consisting of a clamp engaging an upper hinge of one of the doors of an automobile, a shaft carried by the clamp and a plume forming member carried by the shaft.
