Arranged Within the opening L is a saddle bracket H. This bracket is preferably made from astrip of sheet metal bent into U-sliape. The size of this bracket is just sufiicient to receive the sound producing device, as clearly indicated, the inner end wall surface as 10 0f the sound producing device resting against the outwardly facing wall surface 11 of the connecting portion 12 between the two legs 4 and 5 of the bracket, and the outerend surface as 13 of the sound producing device being approximately flush with the outer surface of the body wall 8.

A sheet 'as 14 of suitable material, such as muslin or cheese cloth, may be pasted onto the outer surface of the sound producing device and onto the adjacent outer surface of the wall 8 for retaining the sound producing device against outward displacement, though it will be understood that any other appropriate means maybe employed for this purpose as may be found expedient. The sheet or cloth 14, where it overlies the flanges 6 and 7 of the bracket H, being pasted firmly over said flanges and to the adjacent wall surface portions of the doll body, constitutes an efHcient means for assisting the tangs 9 in holding the bracket in rigid connection with the doll body.

vThe use of a loose woven cloth as a retaining sheet for this purpose Vhas the advantage that it is sufliciently porous to permit the easy migration of sound outwardly therethrough from the sound producing device.

The Stringing employed for holding the doll head 15 and the legs 16 movably connected with the body consists `of an endless elastic cord as 17. A, metallic hook 18 carried by this cord engages an anchor member 19 fixedv within the head. vThe cord extends downwardly from this hook and its lower portion carries a pair of hooks as 2O and 21 which are connected with the anchor inemliers l22 and 23 respectively fixed to the legs 6- 6. Y In its mid portion the two strands as 24 an 25 of the cord are spread apart and receive the sound producing device Gr between them. The bracket H is preferably arranged in a general vertical position within the body, and the strands 24 and 25 of the cord 17, being also in a. general vertical position, engage opposite relatively vertical side wall portions as 26 and 27 of the sound device and yieldingly restrain thefsound device against lateral movement out of position centrally within the bracket, as will be clearly apparent from the illustration Fig. 2. The bowed or spread condition of the strands 24and 25 imposes a resilient pressure of substantially equal force against opposite sides of the sound device so that objectionable movement of the sound device within the bracket is unlikely. At the same time the resilient character of this restraining means will always permit a certain amount of movement of the sound device with respect to the remainder of the doll in the event of severe shocks and this is of advantage since it constitutes a resilient support for the sound device operable to prevent likelihood of injury to the delicate mechanisin within the sound device.

The bracket H may be of a sufficiently resilient character to permit limited lvertical movement of the sound device'for 'the same purpose if desired. n In the modification Fig. 3 the structure is the same in all respects as has been above described but in addition it is proposed by this figure that if desiredthe opposite strands of the stringingcord 17 may be crossed either above or below the sounddevice, or in both of these localities, so as to more tightly grip the sound device. In the locality above the sound device the strands, when crossed, may engage hooks 28 and 29 connected with the arms 30 and 31 for holding said arms in operative moveable relation to the body.

The modification Fig. 4 illustrates the j manner in which lthe saddle bracket H may be employed for supporting` the'sound producing device in the head of the doll instead of in the body asin the other Figs. The form, the manner of attaching the bracket, and the use of a cloth sheet 'covering the sound device and opening L are the same as before, their being only a change of location from the body to the head of Vthe doll. In this event the cloth sheet 14 pasted onto the sound device and onto the surrounding surface of the head is relied upon to retain the sound device against lateral displacement from the bracket H;

As many changes could be made in this construction without departing from the scope of the invention, as defined in the following claims, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description, or shown in the accompanying drawings, shall be interpreted as illustrative only and not in a limiting sense., l

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. The combination with a hollow moulded:y

2.- A doll having a dollbody portion and relatively movable members, a sound prow ducing device arranged Within the doll body portion, and resilient supporting means for the sound producing device having connection with said movable members to hold said movable members connected with the body.
