This invention relates to a pocket book compact, and has for' an object to provide a compact which may simulate a pocket book in appearance and which will contain the ,6 most important articles for a womans toilet in handy and quickly accessible positions.

A further object of this invention is to provide a compact which will include a money purse and a mirror.. in such positions that the mirror and the purse may be used without the necessity of exposing any of the other toilet or vanity articles and to provide means whereby each vanity article may be kept in a separate place where it can not get misplaced or lost, whereby each article may have a separate compartment provided therefor, so that any article may be used without the necessity of disturbing the other articles.

With the foregoing and other objects in View, this invention comprises the following constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter set forth, disclosed and claimed as considered in connectibn with the accompanying drawing. rThis invention comprises a compact made -up in simulation of a'pocket book and consists broadly of a case or a panel and side walls having flaps hinged to each side and having a plurality of the flaps fastenable at the center of the case or panel and having one flap overlapping the fastening means of the other flaps, thereby providing a closure means, and further providing a handle or carrying strap on the back of the case or,

though not necessarily integral therewith isv a flap which is to constitute a part of the clo- -sure for the compact. The flaps 16 and 17 0n each of side walls 11 and l2 are each substantially triangular and their apeXes meet 55. at .approximately the center of panel 10. At theapex of each Hap 16 and 17 is secured one element 18 of a snap fastener, while the other elements 19 of the snap fasteners are secured on a block 2O of wood or other suit- 60 able material which is glued to or othewise firmly secured to the inside of panel 10 at the center thereof, whereby the flaps 16 and 17 may be folded toform part of the closure means for the compact. Similarly hinged to the bottom wall 13 is a substantially triangular flap 21 likewise having a fastener element 18 at itsl apex which may be secured to its mating element 19 in block 20. Hinged to wall 14 as at 22 is still another flap 23 which 7G y is likewise substantially triangular, although its edges 24; and 25 may be curved as shown for decorative effect. Although opposite flaps 16 and 17 are substantially .equal in size, flap 23 is substantially larger than its oppos- 75 ing flap 21, and hence its apex overlaps the apeXes of the flaps 16, 17 and 21. Secured in the apex of flap 23 is one element 26 of a fastening' means, and it-s mating element 27 is secured on the outer side of its opposing flap 23. As will be apparent, hinge 22 of ilap 23 is set below the plane of the other hinges of the flaps 16, 17 and 21, and hence there is easier access to the'interior of the compact when flap 23 is opened. Each of flaps 16, 17 85 and 2l serve to substantially divide the space in the case into separate compartments, while the space not covered by these flaps defines another compartment.

In operation, a vanityiarticle is to be placed in each of the compartments in the case, and another article may be placed on the inner side of the overlapping flap 23. Thus, the

Icompartment beneath flap 2l may contain a lip s tick case and container 28 while the com- 95 partments beneath flaps 16 and 17 may contain rouge and powder cases 29 and 30. These cases may be of any of the standard constructions carrying the powder either in the form of a compact or as loose powder, and also carry the usual powder puff for applying the powder. Thus, by opening anyone of iaps 16, 17 or 21, any one of the articles 29, 30 or 28 may be made available without disturbing the other of these flaps or articles. Secured in the compartment beneath the overlapping flap 23 is a mon-ey purse 31, While secured to the inner side of this iiap 23 is a mirror 32. Thus, this invention provides a compact having the most important toilet or vanity articles easily accessible yet in separate compartments so that each article may be used with-l out disturbing or exposing the others. When the overlapping flap 23 is closed, it, in conjunction with the other flaps, provides a closure means for the compact, and Hap 23 overlaps and protects the fastening means of the other flaps, so that itis necessary to rst open flap 23, and then any one or more of the other flaps may then be opened. Accordingly, as the mirror is an essential article in using any Vanity article, it is placed on the inside of this overlapping flap, and the money purse is in the compartment beneath this flap, 23 that it may be availablel without disturbing or exposing any of the other vanity articles, and further, by placing the purse and mirror in the same compartment, the mirror may be consulted or access to the money purse may be had when the iap- 23 is opened Without exposing any of the other vanity articles.

The compact may be made of leather, imitation leather or any other similar or suitable material. This compact thus provides a convenient means of carrying the five most important articles needed by the average female user. If desired, however, means may be provided for additional articles within the scope of this invention. Thus, the inner sides of the other flaps may be used to secure additional vanity articles. Furthermore, instead of being substantially rectangular as shown, Which is the preferred form, thus having four sides, the compact may be a polygon in shape having five, six or more sides with?. an additional closure flap and compartment for each additional side, which additional flaps may have their apexes secured in a central block, thus providing additional separate compartments for additional vanity articles.

Having thus set forth the nature of this invention, what isclaimed is:

1. A pocketbook compact comprising a case, a substantially triangular Hap hinged to each side of said case, each of said iaps having one element of a fastener at its apex, means in the case to secure the other element of a plurality of fasteners, a plurality of fastener elements on said means and adapted to cooperate with the fastener elements on the respective iiaps with the exception of one Hap, whereby said flaps may be individually secured closed and individually opened,l the excepted flap overlapping the apexes of the other flaps, anelement of a fastener secured on one of the overlapped flaps, and adapted to co-operate with the fastener at the apex of the overlapping flap, and said flaps substantially triangular flaps hinged to the opi posite end Walls on said panel and having their apexes meeting approximately at the center of the panel, a third substantially triangular fiap hinged to the wall at the bottom of the panel and having its apex meeting the said other'apexes at the center of the panel, means to fasten said apexes at the center of the panel whereby each flap may be opened independently of the other two, a fourth flap hinged to the wall at the top of the panel having its apex substantially overlapping said other apexes, means on said third flap to fasten the apex of said fourth Hap thereto, and means to secure a vanity article on said panel beneath one or more of each of said flaps and on the inside of at least one of said flaps.

A pocket book compact consisting of a substantially rectangular back panel, a wall on each side of said back panel, a pair of substantially triangular aps hinged to the opposite end Walls on said panel and having their apexes meeting approximately at the center of the panel, a third substantiallytriangular iiap hinged to the wallat the bottom of the panel and having its apex meeting the said other apexes at the center of the panel, means to fasten said apexes at the center of the panel whereby each flap may be opened independently of the other two, a fourth flap hinged to the wall at the top of the panel having its apex substantially overlapping said other apexes, means on said third iap to fasten the apex of said fourth flap thereto, means to secure a vanity article on said panel beneath one or more of each of said first three iaps, a purse secured to said panel beneath said overlapping flap and a mirror secured to the inside of said overlapping Hap.

4. A pocket book compact consisting of a substantially rectangular-back panel, a wall on each side of said back panel, a pair of substantially triangular :flaps hinged to the opposite end walls on said panel and having their apexes meeting approximately at the center of the panel, a third substantially triangular Hap hinged to the wall at the bottom of the panel and having its apex meeting the said other apexes at the center of the panel, means to fasten said apexes at the center of the panel whereby each Hap may be opened independently of the other two, ,a fourth iap hinged to the wall at the top of the panel having its apex substantially overlapping said other apexes, means en said third iap to fasten the apex of. said fourth flap thereto, means to secure a vanit article on said panel beneath one or more o each of said irst three flaps, a ypurse secured to said panel beneath said overc lapping Hap and a mirror secured to the inside of said overlapping lia-p, and a carrying strap secured across the back of said panel.

5. A pocket book compact comprising a lo polygonal back panel, a wall on each side of said ack panel, a substantiallytriangularap linged to each .wall,'a1l of the flaps except one l having their apexes meeting approximately at the center of the panel and means at the center for fastening these apexes whereby each iap may be opened independently of any of the other aps meeting at the center, the excepted a being substantially larger than the other aps whereby its apefx may overlap the a eXes of the other flaps, and means on one o the overlapped flaps to fasten said eX- cepted Hap thereto'.
