FASTENER Filed Sept. 28, 1925 guur/nto@ @3,13 )tc/@m /MA "6M dummy Patented Apr. 7, 1931 y UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE BIRDORA H. WHITE, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN FASTENER Application filed September 2,8, 1925. Serial No. 59,142.
The invention relates to fasteners such as leaf loop is preferably slightly greater than are used for overall or suspender straps7 0r the diameter of the button while the other wherever a fastener for a pair of members dimension or length 17 of the clover leaf loop is desired. One of the objects of my i1lVeI1- is preferably slightly less than the diameter g tion is to provide a simply constructed flsof the button. Further the distance between 5." tener which will not become accidentally the portions A-A and B-B of loop 12 is disengaged but which will permit ready dS- slightly less than the diagonalthiclmess or engagement when desired. A further fearadius of the button when the latter is tilted ture of my invention resides in the provision for engagement or y disengagement with the of a fastener adapted to engage a button or loop, whereby @ven after' the button is tilted, co a button hole. it must be forced between these portions, both With these and other objects in View, the of which yield slightly to permit passage of invention resides in the novel features of the button By reason of the two loops beconstruction and combination yand arrangeing offset and the neck extending transversements of parts as more fully hereinafter dely therebetween, liability of disengagement U5 scribed and claimed. i of the fastener from the button is avoided Referring to the drawings in which like even if the length of the clover leaf loop 1s reference characters indicate corresponding slightly greater than the diameter of the i parts button. y n

These loops 11 and 12 extend parallel when desired asrfall within the scope of the to each other in relatively offset planes and claims. vi Y are connected by the neck 13. The loop 11 What I claim as my invention is is adapted to engage one of two members t0 1. A fastener comprising an elongated loop J be connected together such as the. overall engageable with a strap and a second resilient strap 14a, while the loop 12 is adapted to e11- loop integrally formed with the first said loop gage a button 14 secured to the other of the for engagement with abutton, the dimensions members to be connected together, as the ofthe second loop being so proportioned relacloth member 15. The width 16 of the clover A tive Yto the button that the second loop is engageable With the button, only by a springing movement of the second loop.
2. A fastener comprising an elongated loop engageable with a strap and a. second resilient loop integrally formed With the first said loop and enga geable With a button, the dimensions of the second loop and button being such that engagement of the one With the other may only be effected by a. springing movement of the second loop, said loops being relatively offset.
3. A fastener comprising a resilient clover leaf shaped loop adapted for engagement with button, the dimensions of the loop and button being so proportioned that engagement of the one with the other may only be effected by a springing movement of the loop.
4l. A fastener comprising a resilient clover leaf shaped loop adaped for engagement With a button, one dimension of said loop being snl'cient to freely receive the button, the said loop having portions spaced apart a distance slightly less than the diagonal thickness of the button whereby said portions must be sprung to engage or disengage Vthe bntton.
5. A fastener comprising a resilient clover leaf shaped loop adapted for engagement with a button, the length of the base of the loop being of snli'icient dimension to freely receive the button and the Width of the base of the loop being of a dimension less than the diagonal thickness of the button whereby the loop must be sprung for engaging or disengaging the button.
G. A fastener comprising an elongated loop engageable with a strap, a second clover leaf shaped loop, and a connection between said loops, said cloverleaf shaped loop having portions extending at substantially right angles to the said connection adapted for hooking engagement with the material adjacent a buttonhole.
7. A fastener comprising an elongated loop engageable with a strap, a second cloverleaf shaped loop, and a connection between said loops, said cloverleaf shaped loop having a side parallel to one side of the said elongated loop to provide a portion adapted for hool'- ing engagement With the material adjacent a buttonhole.
8. A fastener comprising an elongated loop engageable with a strap, a second clover leaf shaped loop, and a connection Abetween said loops, said clover leaf shaped loop being adapted for engagement with a button and also being provided with portions extending at substantially right angles to the said connection adapted for hooking engagement With the material adjacent a buttonhole.
9. A fastener comprising an elongated loop engageable with a strap, a second clover leaf shaped loop, said loops being arranged in parallel offset planes, and a connection between said loops, said clover leaf shaped loop being adapted for engagement With a but- BIRDORA H. WHITE.
