11. A hoisting mechanism comprising a rotatable casing, a pair of coaxial winding drums journaled thereon, reversible motor having a stationary casing on which said rotatable casing is journaled, operative driving.

A hoisting mechanism comprising a motor having a stationary casing, a rotatable casing journaled onsaid stationary motor casing, a pair of relatively rotatable'winding drums, operative driving connections between said motor and said rotatable casing, and means for connecting said drums to said rotatable casing.

A hoisting mechanism comprising a driver member, a pair of winding drums, a reversibly rotatable driving shaft, operative driving connections between said shaft and said driver member including a frictionally controlled reaction gear, and means operative when said reaction gear is frictionally controlled to cause the driver member to be driven and including a shiftable mem ber connected to said driver member and adapted to engage said drums alternatively, for connecting one drum to said driving member and for disconnecting the other drum therefrom, or vice versa, automatically in accordance with the direction of motor rotation.

A hoisting mechanism comprising a pairo-f winding drums each having ratchet teeth carried thereby, a reversibly rotatable driver shaft, and operative driving connections between said shaft and said drums including controlling means operable at will for frictionally connecting said drums and said shaft or releasing the former from the latter to permit said drums to be stationary though said shaft is rotated, said driving connections including a ratchet ring and means formed on said ratchet ring for effecting shifting of the latter to connect said drums alternatively in driven relation with said shaft automatically in accordance with the direction in which said shaft is rotated. 31. A hoisting mechanism comprlsmg a pair of winding drums, a reversibly rotatable driving shaft, and operative driving connections between said shaft and said drums including a frictionally controlled reaction gear, said driving connections including means disposed between adjacent ends of said drums and operative to connect said drums alternatively to said shaft automatically in accordance with the direction of shaft rotation.

In a hoisting mechanism, a rotatable casing, a pair of winding drums rotatable about said casing, a reversiblyrotatable driving shaft, operative connections between said shaft and casing including a driving gear carried by said casing, and a frictionally con trolled reaction gear with which said driver gear constantly meshes, and means operable when said reaction gear 1s frlctlonally controlled to produce rotation of said casing for connecting onedrum to said casing and for disconnecting the other drum therefrom automatically in accordance with the direction of rotation of said driving shaft.

In a hoisting mechanism, a rotatable casing, a pair of winding drums rotatable about said casing, a reversibly rotatable driv= ing shaft, operative connections between said shaft and casing including a driving gearcarried by said casing, and a frictionally controlled reaction gear with which said driver gear constantly meshes, and means operable when said reaction gear is frictionally controlled to produce rotation of said casing for connecting oneclrum to said casing and for disconnecting the other drum therefrom auto-. matically in accordance with the direction of rotation of said driving shaft, said automatic means including a shiftable element connected to said casing and alternatively en-' gagable with said drums.
