Description

Dec. 30, 1930. H. NATKIEL 7, 9
BOB HoLpEn Filed Nov 1, 1927 WITNESSES INVENTOR Z24 L BY ATTORNEYS Patented Dec. 30, 1930 'NITEID STATES PATENT OFFICE HARRY NATKIEL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO'IHE RIESER COMPANY, INC., OF NEW YORK, N. Y., A. CORPORATION OF NEW YORK non nonnnn Application filed November 1, 1927. Serial No. 230,280.
- This invention relates to hair-dressing accessories and has particular reference to a holder which is especially designed for bobbed hair to be used at the sides of the head.
The present invention comprehends an improved holder for this purpose, which is constructed in such a manner as to more ef fectually retain itself in place against accidental displacement and loss.
More specifically the. invention comprehends a holder for bobbed hair, constructed from a length of flat material of substantially greater width than thickness, which 1'5 material is-cut, bent and formed to provide substantially parallel closely spaced legs joined at one end by a looped connecting bight and in which the confronting inner surfaces of'the legs are formed with transverse serrations defining alternately arranged relatively wide and narrow hair receiving and clamping spaces.
Other objects reside in the simplicity of construction, the economy of production,
and the efficiency derived therefrom.
With the above recited and other-objects in View, reference is had ,to the following description and accompanying drawings in .WhiCh there is exhibited certain examples 0 or embodiments of the invention, while the appended claims define the actual scope of the invention.
In the drawings F'gure 1 is a view illustrating the holder in use;
Fig. 2'is an edge view of the holder; Fig. 3 is a side view thereof; I, Fig. 4 isan edge view of a modified adaptation of the invention.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference and particularly to the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the holder is. constructed from a single len h of fiat material which is of substantia y greater width than thickness and which is cut, bent and formed to rovide a pair of substantially parallel close y s aced egs 10 and 11 joined at one'end bg a ight 12 with the upper surfaces in con onting relation.
to Intermediate their length the legs 10 and 11 are formed, respectively, with sinuous portions 13 and 14, so related as to define al ternately arranged communicating relatively wide and narrow hair-receiving spaces a: and b. By constructing the holder in the manner set forth, it obtains a more effectual grip upon the hair for retaining itself in place while holding the strands of hair at the side of the head against separation.
In'the modified adaptation of the invention illustrated in Fig. 4:, the legs 10 and 11.
which are joined by the bight 12, are formed on their inner confronting faces with serrations 13a and 14a respectively, which define the alternately arranged communicating relatively wide and narrow hair-receiving and clamping spaces 0 and d.
tions, which serrations are slightly spaced apart at their projecting edges todefine alternately arranged relatively wider clamping spaces.
'2. A bob holder constructed of a length of fiat resilient material having a substantially greater width than thickness, said length of material beingbent transversely of its width and intermediate its ends to provide a pair of closely spaced legs joined by a substantially semi-circular bight, said legs having sinuous portions intermediate the length thereof defining alternately arranged communicatin'g relatively wide and narrow hair receiving and clamping spaces.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 31st day of October, A. D. 1927.
HARRY NATKIEL.
