Patented Dec. 1930 LUIS 'wuRLon, or BUENOS Arnns, *AI'RGENTINA srI'rTooN or VARIABLE HEIGHT FIT Eon 1)-r1 \I:r Is'rs'oRPHYSICIANS Application filed November 20, 1928, Serial no; 320,724,-a1id in Argentina September 25, 1928.
This invention relates to improvements in. spittoons of the type constituting part of the equipment of a dentists chair. I
The invention has for its primary object to provide a spittoon including such structural features as will assure maintenance in a cleanand sanitary condition and which permitof such-vertical adjustment thereof as to adapt it for convenient use within 'the range of the vertical adjustment of the dental chair. v
'A further object of the invention is the provision of the spittoon of the vertically adjustable type which may be conveniently moved to various positions of adjustment and" which, throughout such various positions, will ensure the continualand efiective d1sposal of deposits.
In the accompanying drawing wherein an approved embodiment of the invention is illustrated, the figure represents a vertical sectional View of the improved spittoon.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the letter a represents a bracket which may be mounted upon a pedestal, dental chair or other support suitable for the purpose.

porting arm (Z, the latter'being' adapted to turn with the pipe 0 inthe vertical bore of the 1 bracket or so that its position may be varied:
to suit the convenience of the occupant of the dental chair.
be moved vertically with respect to the bracket a to vary the elevation of the sp ttoon bowl e which is mounted upon the arm d and 0, a suitable strainer f being provided at, the
discharge endofthe bowl 6 to prevent the" entrance of relatively large solid substances into the discharge pipe 0 and trap 12. j
The terminal of the bracket a is formed with a vertical bore and presents a depending flange on which is removably fitted the depending" water trap or receptacle I) provided at 1tslower terminal with an aperture normally" "from the spoutfl The arm d and plpe a may also that the improvedspittoon, due to the mounti'ngofthe pipe ointhe bracket a is, capable uoii adjustment in the vertical direction, as

1. A device of the character described including a supporting bracket having a vertical bore in one terminal, a trap depending from the bracket and communicating with the bore, a discharge pipe movable axially and rotatably in said bore and extending into said trap, an arm carried by the upper terminal of said pipe, a spittoon bowl supported on said arm and communicating with said pipe, said bowl and arm being rotatable and movable axially with said pipe.
2. A device of the character described including a supporting bracket having a vertical bore in one terminal, a trap depending from the arm and communicating with the bore, a discharge pipe movable axially and rotatably in said bore and extending into said trap, an arm carried by the upper terminal of said pipe, a spittoon bowl supported, on said arm and communicating with said pipe, said bowl and arm being rotatable and movable axially with said pipe, and a shock absorbing element interposed between the arm and bracket. 7
3. A device of the character described including a supporting bracket having a vertical bore in one terminal, a trap depending from the arm and communicating with the bore, a discharge pipe movable axially and rotatably in said bore and extending into said trap, an arm carried by the upper terminal of said pipe, a spittoon bowl supported on said arm and communicating with said pipe, said bowl and arm being rotatable and movable axially with said pipe, spaced packing glands in the bracket and surrounding the discharge pipe, and means for conducting lubricant to the discharge pipe at apointbetween said glands.
4. A device of the character described in cluding a supporting bracket having a vertical bore in one terminal, a trap depending from the arm and communicating with the bore, a discharge pipe movable axially and rotatably iu said bore and extending into said trap, an arm carried by the upper terminal of said pipe, a spittoon bowl supported on said arm and communicating with said pipe, said bowl and arm being rotatable and movable axially with said pipe, and a drain pipe communicating with the bracket and with the trap.
5. A device of the character described including a supporting bracket, a liquid trap supported by the bracket, a drain conduit communicating with the upper part of the trap, a vertically movable discharge pipe guided in and communicating at its lower end with the trap, and a spittoon arranged above the discharge pipe and communicating therewith.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
