Referring to the. drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it will be seen that 5 16pI'6S6I113S a garage of conventional r construction having a roof 7 and twin doors 8-8 hingedly mounted in the usual manner.
A bracket 9 supports a rocker arm-10, one
end of which has a link connection 11 with a member 12 on one of the doors 8. A pair of U-shaped plates 13 and 14 cooperate with the link 15 and bracket 16.150 afford an adjustable connection. The U-shaped' member 1 1 is shorter than the member 13 and set screws 17 -17 engaged through'the end portions of the member 13 to bear against the end portions of the member 14 whereby the pin and slotconnection 18 may be adjusted to meet requirements. A bracket 19 is provided on the complementary doors 8 and a pivotal link 20' i connects the bracket 19 with'the arm 15.
A crank shaft 21 is mounted on the bearings 22-22 over the driveway 23 leading to the garage. The crank shaft 21 is provided with the offset cranks 2 1 and 25. A connecting rod 26 connects one end of the crank shaft 21 to the outer end of the rocker arm 10 as in the manner clearly shown in Figure 3.
A bracket 27 is securedto the inner side of one of the doors 8 and a connecting rod 28 leads therefrom and connects to the crank shaft 29 and the crank'30. An L-shaped frame arrangement 31 is provided on the a shaft 29 and this shaft 29 is journalled through the bearings 32 32.
It will thus be seen that when a vehicle approaching the garage engages the upstanding crank 25, the mechanism will be set in motion to open the doors 8+8 to the H position shown in Figure 3. In this position of the doors, the cranks will be in the posi tions shown and when the vehicle engages the L-shaped frame 31 at the inside of the garage, the doors 88 will be shifted to a closed position. Obviously as the vehicle moves away from the garage on the driveway 23, the engagement of one of the wheels against the upstanding crank 24: (while the doors 88 are in open position) will result in the closing of the doors. r v
While the foregoing description has been in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of theinvention as claimed hereinafter. V r
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. An'operating mechanism for swinging doors comprising a rocker arm, a linked connection between one end of the rocker arm 7 door, a connecting rod between the opposite end of the rocker arm and one of the crank shafts, and a connecting rod pivoted at one end to the said door and having its opposite end connected to the other crank shaft, the first mentioned crank shaft being provided with a pair of opposite cranks thereon, While the other crank shaft is provided with an L- shnped frame thereon.
