In the accompanying drawing, Figure I represents a side view of the flag-stafl'holder embodying my invention. Fig. 11 is a top view of the same.
A is a plate, of any desired shape, provided with suitable holes to fasten the same against the wall ofa building or' other place where the flag-staff, made of wire, bent ina spiral shape to form a cylinder or tube, to receive and support the flag-staif. The lower end of this socket is attached to the lower end of the plate A, so that the socket B will project diagonally to the face of the plate A. The upper end of this socket is attached through one or more braces, (J, to the upper part of the plate A. The braces Omay be arranged with screws and nuts, to enable the same being lengthened or shortened, for the purpose of changing the inclination of thewire socket B ln-relation to the face of the plate A; but generally I make this inclination about sixty de grees. 7
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- A As a new article of manufacture, the herein-described socket for flag-staffs, consisting of the combination of the plate A, the wire cylinder or tube B, attached diagonally to the plate A, and the brace or braces 0, arranged and constructed in the manner and for the purpose substantially as set forth.
