which shall be adapted to support the covers in extended 'or unfolded condition, so that the cover withdrawn therefrom maybe eas- -ily and quickly applied to the seat.
The invention has for a further object to provide a holder of the character stated lwhich shall be adapted to support the covers one in advance of the other or in tablet form and which shall be fully open at its front side,
. 1`5 so as to permit al cover to be easily and quickly withdrawn therefrom.
The invention has for a further object to provide covers o'f the character stated with tabs which shall be adapted to extend beyond the holder and through the medium of which to permit its supply of covers to be replen- 35 ished.
The invention has for a still further object to provide a cover support which shall also be adapted to hingedly connected the seat to the bowl.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view, the nature of which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully dem scribed and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure l is a view in side elevation of the sanitaryv cover holder applied to a toilet bowl;
Figure 2 is a view partly in front elevation la. further object toV the covers and partly in vertical section of the holder applied to the toilet bowl;
Figure 3-is a sectional view taken on a plane extending vertically through portions of the toilet bowl, seat, holder and holder supporting means;
Figure 4 is a top plan view illustrating the manner.in which the holder supporting means is secured t0 the toilet bowl;
Figure 5 isa sectional view taken on a plane indicated by the line 45 5 of Figure 2;
Figure 6 is a sectional view taken line V6-6 of Figure 2, and
Figure 7 is a sectional view taken on the on the plane indicated by the line 7-7 of Figure 2.
Referring in detail to the drawings, 1 designates a. toilet bowl, 2 the seat of the bowl; 3 the sanitary covers, 4 the holder for the c'overs and 5 the means for supporting the holder.
-The sanitary covers 3, which are arranged in tablet form in the holder 4 and are supported by the holder in upright position at the rear end of the sea-t 2, are made of paper and are similar to the seat in contour. 'The covers 3 are provided with guard tabs 6, which extend into the openings 7 thereof, and they are provided with-finger or pull tabs 8, which extend above the holder 4. The covers 3 are of such configuration that the one withdrawn from the holder 4 and applied to the seat 2 will cover .the entire upper surface of the seat andthe guard tabs 6 are so located on the covers that this part of the applied cover will extend downwardly through the seat and overlie the front portion of the bowl 1.
The holder 4 is made of metal and is similar to the covers 3 in contour. The covers 3 are provided with extensions 9 through the medium of which they are clamped in the holder 4. The holder 4 is made of metal, and comprises a rear wall 10, which is similar to 3 and their extensions 9 in contour. The holder 4 is provided with a straight bottom wall 1l, which extends forwardly from the lower end of the rear Wall 10 and is provided at its front edge with an upstanding flange 12. The bottom Wall 11, its flange 12 and that portion of the rear wall 10 located directly opposite the flange, const-itute a channeled clamp in which the extensions 9 of the cover 3 are arranged'. The holder 4 is provided with a top wall 13, and side walls 14 and 15. which extend forwardly from the top and side edges of the rea-r wall 10 and are similar in contour to the 4vcovers 3.
The side wall 14 is formed inte ally with the top wall 1 3 and extends from t e top wallto `the bottom wall 11, the portion 14a of this side wall closing one/end of the channeled clamp. Theside wall 15 is also formed integrally withythe top wall 13 and terminates short of the channeledclamp, so as to leave the other end thereof` open and to permit the extensions 9 of the covers 3 to beeasily inserted into the channeled clamp. The top wall 13 is provided with an lopening 16 through whichthe pull' tabs 8 extend. The' outer edges of the covers 3 contact with the top wall 13 and the side walls 14 and 15 of the holder 4, and they are supported withiny the holder by flanges 16,'which'extend forwardly from the rear wall 1() below the topvwall and inwardly of the side walls. The flanges 16 extend through theopening 7 of the covers 3 l and the inner edges of the covers contact therewith. The upper end of the flanges 16 p are relatively spaced for the passage of the guard tabs 6. Thecovers 3 are also supported within the holder 4 by prongs 17, which extend forwardly from the rear wall 10 between the top wall 13 and flanges 16 and which pass through slots 18 in the covers. Cushions19 are secured to the rear wall 10 by clamps 20, and they are located below the upper-end portions 'of the flanges 16 and extend beyond the foremost cover 3.
The means 5 for supporting the holder 4 comprises plates( 2l mounted upon the rear end ortion of the bowl 1 and extending longitu inally of the bowl. 'The plates 21 are provided in their rear end portions with longitudinally extending slots 22 for the reception of bolts 23 by which they are secured to the bowl 1, the slots permitting the plates t-o be' adjusted forwardly and rearwardly on the bowl. y
The plates 21 are each provided with a pair vof relatively spaced lugs or flanges 24, which receive the lower end portion of the holder 4` and the lugs or flanges' are inclined to support the holder 4 at a slight upward and rearward inclination.` The seat 2 is secured to the front ends of the'plates k21 by doublel acting hinges 2 5, which permit the seat to be 'raised and lowered and to rest against the" holder 4 when in raised posi-tion. The seat 2 contacts with 'the cushion elements 19 when in raised position, and 'in view thereof, it is maintained out of contact with the metal therefrom and arranged upon the seat 2. The
extension of the cover tabs 8 above the holder 4 enables one of the covers to be quickly grasped and withdrawn from the holder. After the covers 3 .have all been used, a new tablet of covers may be readily placed in the holder 4, and this may be done with the holder remaining in position in its supports 5 or after the holder has been withdrawn from its supports. The tablet of covers may be provided with a back 3a of cardboard or the like, and the covers maybe secured to the back by fastenings 3b which pass through the cover extensions 9 and through the back. y
.While I have described the principle of they invention, together with the structure which I now consi er the preferred embodiment thereof, it is to be understood that the structure shown is merely illustrative and that such changes may be made, when desired, as
fall within the scope of the invention asV claimed. l
I claim 1. In combination, a toilet bowl and its seat, hinges for the seat supporting means secured to thev bowl at the rear edge of the seat, and formed-integrally with the hinges of the seat, said supporting means comprising ay pair of parallel upright members, a holder carried by said means and extending side open, a tablet of sanitary toilet' seat covers` arranged within the4 holder, and means permitting the covers to be withdrawn one at a time., from the holder.
2. In combination, a toilet bowl and its seat, hinges for the seatsupporting means secured to the bowl at the rear edge of the seat, said supporting means comprising a signature.
