IMPROVEMENT IN CATTLE-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,688, dated February 15, 1876; application filed January 20, 1876. I
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEBRA L. TAYLOR, of
Grecnville, in the county of New London and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Impro'vementsin Cattle-Ties and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
' The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in cattle-ties and it consists in the construction of a small metallic block with two holes through it, through which holes the rope is passed in making a noose or loop, as will be more fully described hereafter. I
The accompanying drawings represent my invention. a represents a small metallic block, made from any suitable metal, and having its corners and edges rounded off so as not to injure the animals neck. Through this block are made two holes, 0, through which the rope, having a knot in one end, is passed, as shown, so as to form a loop to go over the animals head. As the loop is thus formed, the knotted end of the rope bears up against the under side of the block. The free end of the rope is now passed through the loop over the top of the block, and the loop drawn down to a proper size. The animal, in drawing or pulling back on the rope, pulls it down on top of the block, where it fits in the groove 0, and, being pressed down over the edges of the block, the rope is prevented from slipping in such a manner as to draw the loop tight and choke the animal. In order to loosen the loop the rope is drawn back through the loop, and the loop then enlarged to any desired degree.
This tie is applicable to cattle, horses, and many places where a loop is needed.
Having thus described my invention, I claim The block at, having the two holes 0 and groove 6 in its top, substantially as described.
.In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of January, 1876.
CEBRA L. TAYLOR.
