This invention relates to a nursing bottley 14 is a socket 15 having a shoulder 16 at its the primary object vof which is to so construct a bottle of this character that air will enter at the bottom instead of .at the top of the bottle thus causing an easy flow of milk or other contents from the bottle through the nursing nipple and will prevent the child from sucking air through the' nipple. y
Another object of the invention is to so construct a bottle of this character that there will be no leakage of milk through the valve. In carrying out these objects, the invention is susceptible of a wide range of modification without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the claimed invention there being shownin the drawings for illustrative purposes a preferred and practical form, in which Tn the drawings: Figure 1 represents a perspective view looking upward from the bottom of a bottle constructed in accordance with this invention; Fig. 2 is a detailed vertical section through the bottom of the bottle showing the im' `p proved air inlet;

In the embodiment illustrated a bottle 1 of glass is shown and which may be of any desired configuration; having the usual neck 2 and beaded mouth 3 to receive the nursing nipple. The bottom 4 of this bottle has an opening 5 preferably arranged centrally thereof and laround which and extending into the bottle is a collar 6 here shown made trun* .cated cone-shaped and which is designed to receive acorespondingly shaped rubber cork 7. The cork 74 has a central opening 4 eX- tending longitudinally through the center thereof and which hasan aluminumvvalve mounted therein and removable with the cork. This valve 10 includes a bevelled disc 11 i5 vadapted to seat'on the upper end of a sleeve 12 mounted in the bore 8 of the cork 7. A stem 13 depends from the lower face of the valve 10 and extends through and is slidable in a block-like member 14l formed integral A with the valve casing 12. Within the block.
inner end against which bears one end of a coiled spring 17 mounted on the valve stem, the other end of said springbearing against .a stop 18'carried by the outer end of the valve a stem and which is adjustable to vary the tension of the spring. It is of course understood that this spring holds the valve disc 11 seated and yet permits said valveto move inwardly against the tension of the spring when the o@ child' is sucking the nipple thereby drawing in air through the valve at the bottom of the bottle, air being admitted through bores 19 formed in the block 14. Itis of course under stood that the spring 17 must be madel of 65 non-corrosive steel even though there is no' leakage of liquid through the valve which the air in the bottom of the bottle prevents.
This bottle admitting air at the bottom instead of at the top will prevent air colic. When the bottle is to be cleaned the cork 7 may be readily removed and' water passed 7freely through the bottle to cleanse it in all arts thereof:

A nursing bottle having an opening in the bottom thereof with acollar surrounding said opening and extending into'said bottle, Y a cork for said collar seating therein and having a central opening with a valve casing located therein, an inwardly opening valve carried by said casing with means for admitting air through said casing to the interior of the bottle on the opening of the valve and a spring for normally holding the valve seated. b

A nursing bottle having an opening in the bottom thereof', a cork for closing said 95 opening, said cork having an opening therein with a valvecasing located in said opening, a block-like member lin said casing having air passages extending therethrough and provided with a sockethaving a shoulder at its i inner end, a valve stem extending through the i socket in seid block and provided at-ts outer end with Ian inwardly opening valve and at its other end with a stop, and a coiled spring on said stem Within said socket bearing at one end against said Shoulder and at its other against said stop for normally holding the valve seated.
