FIGURE WHEELED TOY.
Application filed January 5, 1928.` Serial No. 244,670.
This intention relates to toys and has among its objects the provision of a toy animal or bird when drawn along a suitable support will sway from side to side in simulation of the natural body movement of that animal or bird .in walking.
Another object of the invention is to so mount the head that it will sway in synchronism with the body.
Still another object is to so mount the tail that it will swing .in ynchronism with the body.
One form of a structure whereby the foregoing objects are attained is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a side elevation;

Referring to the drawing more specifically, l0 is the body portion of an animal, the instant animal being a bear, having legs 1l, the feet of which are provided with journals in which shafts 12 and 13 are loosely mounted. Yvheels 1d are rigidly mounted on shaft 12 at their aireslVheels l5 are rigidly mounted on shaft 13 oit center and diametrically out of register for a reason which will appear later.
The head 16 is loosely mounted on pin 17 so that it is free to swing from side to side. A cord, or other flexible member, is attached to the end of pin 17 for the purpose of drawing` the object along a support.
A tail 18 is looselymounted on pin 19 so that it also is free to swing from side to side. Stability is given to the toy by reason of the fact that the wheels are relatively far apart and are so held apart by spacers 20. Having in mind the foregoing description, the manner in which my toy operates will now be described.
The front wheels being mounted on shaft lf3 all' center at diametrically opposite points anse 'he top part of the body to move from side lo side. This movementis magnified by reason of the tact that the journal openloosely house the shafts 12 and 13.
VAoezruse the head and tail are mounted with their center of gravity well below the mounting pin this swaying, or reciprocating, motion of the body causes the head and tail to swing from side to side as the toy is pulled along its support. f
This combination of the sway of the body and swing of the head and tail gives an effect very much like the lumbering ambling gait of such heavy animals as bears and e1ephants.
It is obvious that minor changes of details of construction come within the purview of this invention.
I claim:
l. A toy comprising, in combination, a body simulating an animal, front and rear shafts loosely journalled therein, wheels rigidly mounted on said shafts the wheels on one of said shafts being mounted off-center in diametrically opposite directions so that the body will sway fromside to side as the toy is drawn along, and a body member loosely mounted above its center of Igravity on said body on an axisextending substantially horizontally and longitudinally of the body, whereby the body member will sway from side to side through the swaying of the body and means for drawing said toy along a support.

A toy comprising, in combination, a body simulating an animal, front and rear shafts loosely journalled in the feet thereof, supporting wheels rigidly mounted on said shafts, spacers between said wheels and said feet, the wheels on the front shaft being mounted off-center in diametrically opposite directions so that the body `will `sway from side to side as the toy is drawn along, a head member loosely mounted above its center of gravity on said body, on an axis `extending substantially horizontally and longitudinally of the body, whereby the body member will sway from side to side through the swaying of the body and means for drawing said toy along a support.
