PERPETUAL CALENDAR.
Application led December 17, 1927. Serial No. 240,814.
The present invention relates to a perpetual calendar and has for its prime object to provide an exceedingly simple construction which is easyto manipulate, and thoroughly eii'icient and reliable in use.
l/Vith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure l is a plan view ofthe calendar embodying the features of my invention,

Figure 3 is a transverse section taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Figure l.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes an elongated rectangular panel which is made of cardboard or the like. The numeral 6 denotes another rectangular elongated panel which will be called the front panel. This panel 6 is shorter and narrower than the panel 5. A pin and Slot connection is provided between the panels 5 and 6 so that they may slide longitudinally with respect to each other and in the present instance the slots 7 are provided to entend longitudinally in the panel 5 while the pins are in the form of rivets or the like 8 extending through the panel 6 and the slots 7.
The panel 6 is provided with a plurality of transverse slots 9 below each of which there is marked a month calendar portion l0. Each of these portions l0 have the first day of the month beginning on different days of the week as will be clearly apparent from an inspection of Figure l. Along the right hand margin there are disposed indicia 12 indicative of the last digits of the different years. On the right hand side of the panel 5 are marked indicia indicative of the centuries as at 13. On the panel 5 under the panel 6 there are indicia let indicative of the different months of the year so that the panel 5 may be slid to bring these indicia la in registry with the slots 9. The indicia 14 includes a certain series of month names which is repeated to provide one series for each month calendar 10. The slots 9 are so arranged that each slot may display any month name of its respective series.
In order to iind any particular day in any particular year, the proper indicia digits l2 are brought alongside of the proper century, and then by referring to the month indicia visible through the slots 9 the proper month portion 10 may be picked out to locate the day of the month. i
By referring to Figure l, it will be noted that in each of the three columns of numerals, under the word year every fourth numeral is printed in distinctive color or type as indicated by the dotted line showing. As will be noted in Figure 2, on the card 5, certain of the months January and February7 are indicated in like manner. These distinctive -colors or type indicia are used for leap years.
It is thought that the construction, operation, utility, and advantages of the invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in the art without a morerdetailed description thereof. The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail merely by way of example since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. It will be apparent that changes in the details of Construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is In a perpetual calendar of the class described, a back rectangular panel, a front rectangular panel shorter and narrower than the back panel, means for sliding the front panel on the back panel longitudinally thereof so that one edge coincides with one edge of the back panel and the other' side edge is spaced inwardly from the adjacent side edge of the back panel, said front panel being provided with a plurality of spaced transverse slots withthe month calendar portions thereunder, said front panel having marked along the last mentioned side edge thereof digits indicative of different years and said back panel having marked thereon along the last mentioned edge century indicating indicia and on the intermediate portion thereof month indicating indicia capable of being registered with the slots.
