This space 1s closed at the bottom by two troughs n, n which are charged with cooling water and into which dip annular ribs o depending from the carrier member m of the hearth. In this way the space Z is closed against the space located below the oven, and heat transmission through the carrier member m to the driving device p which is located below the oven, is completely avoided.
