JAMES I, CONNOR, OF RENOVO, PENNSYLVANIA.
COMBINATION BRUSH, KNIFE, AND ROLLER.
Application filed October 12, 1927. SerialNo. 225,739.
The present invention relates to paperhangers brushes and consists in the combinations and arrangements of elements hereinafter described and particularly set forth in the accompanying claims.
' The invention has for its purpose to provide a brush of that character having associated therewith a creasing roller, and a paper cutter, to the end that these appurtenant tools may be at all times conveniently handy for use and thereby avoid the necessity for the workman carrying said tools on hi person as separate articles.
A further purpose of the invention is to provide a combination paper-hangers brush, creaser and cutter in the form of a single and unitary article which will be of simple design, a convenient size for handling, cheap to manufacture, and which will be an indispensable article to those engaged in the trade of paper-hanging. a
It is further proposed to mount the creasing roller and paper cutter on the handle of the brushin a fixed or secured manner as distinct from hingedly or otherwise movably placing the same thereon, sothat either of the tools may be effectively used for its purpose without liability of displacement.
The invention'is shown by Way of illustration in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is an elevational view thereof;
igure 2 a .top plan View of the same;
igure 3 an end'elevational View showing the .)aper cutter; and,
' 'I igure 4i an end elevational view'showing the creasing roller.
Referring to the construction in further detail and whereinlike reference characters indicate corresponding parts in the different views shown, 5 designates a suitable body portion having mounted thereon the usual typeof paper-han gers brush 6 provided with an integral handle portion .7 of convenient size as shown.
The handle portion? is reduced in thick ness as at 8 to facilitate gripping, and at opposite ends has extended portions ,9 within which are mounted the two auxiliary tools. And the over-all length of said handle with the two tools is substantially the same as the over-all length of the brush 6, per se.
The creasing roller'IO is of the usual size employed by paper-hangers, and is journaled in the forked arm 11 whose shank 12 is secured within the reduced handle 7, as shown. In like manner the cutting disk 18 1S mounted on the opposite end of the handle. One
corner of the handle portion 5 is notched or slotted to receive the peripheral edge of the cutting disk 13 as a reinforcing element therefor, and also as a clearing device for any material that might adhere tothe cutter in the course of its use. 7
It willbe clearly seen from the foregoing that tl e combination tool in its entirety is not in its size appreciably greater than the ordinary paper-hangei"s brush, and also that two appurtenant tools are so located and mounted as to be convenientlyv accessible for instant use, and without in any, way requiring adjustment or otherwise moving these tools into position for use Which has been heretofore proposed in devices of. this general character.
l/Vhile the preferred embodiment of my invention has been disclosed. in certain details it will be understood that I do not wish to be limited to the particular construction set forth, since various changes in the form and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the claims. I
What is claimed as new is:
1. A device of the character described co1n prising a brush portion, a handle therefor having laterally extended portions, a creas ing roller fixedly mounted in one of said extended portions, and a cutting disk mountedin the, other of said extended portions, substantially as set forth.
2. A device of the character described comprising a brush member having a handle portion, and. a cutting disk fixedly mounted on the said handle portion, said handle portion being grooved to receive the peripheral edge of said cutting disk to provide a reinforcing element and cleaner therefor.
3. A device of the character described c inprising a brush portion, a handle therefor, a forked member fixedly mounted on and ex-' tending parallel with said handle, and a de vice journaled in said forked member for the purpose set forth. V
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand at. Washington, District of Columbia this 7th day of October, A. D. nineteel hundred and twenty-seven.
