This invention relates to separable fasteners and its principal object is Vto kprovide means for preventing the slider or sliding cam from accidentally slipping down along .the jaws of the separable fasteners and permitting them toVv become unfastened. `The invention has been designed especially for use in connection with separable fasteners j of gaiters, and the like, where the tendency l!) for the slider or sliding cam to slip or slide down along the jaws is particularly noticeable. However, its 'use is not limited to gaiters, and the like, but it may be used wherever found applicable.

The ordinary bending action of the foot on the gaiter, especially has a tendency to cause 4the slider to slip down along the jaws, thereby releasing them to-beconie opened.

To overcome this objectionable feature; I provide a securing' device upon the tab or finger piece, which device engages with the stringers of the separable fastener in such manner that the sliderv is prevented from accidentally sliding down along the jaws. In the simple form of the invention shown, the tab is" provided with a pair of wings 12 which project laterally from the side edges of the tab and are adapted to en- 90 gage the stringers from behind. The wings are offset rearwards slightly, whereby the edges ofthe stringers may engage the transverse parts 13 of the offset wings. It is understood by those skilled in the art to which this invention pertains, that the edges of the stringers immediately above the Y- shaped slider divergev and the offset parts 13 of the wings engage in the crotch thus formed, and to all intents and purposes belo@ and `allowing the gaiter Y Acornes wedged slightly therein, thereby supporting the slider by the loop 11 and eRectively preventing it from slipping down (n along the aws. l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patei'it:

l. ln a separable fastener having stringers, coacting looking jaws thereon, and a slider, slinably mounted on said jaws, a Finger piece loosely connected to said slider and having a pair of laterally projecting rearwardly olllset wings adapted to engage the edges ot the stringere and behind the edge portions.

2. ln a separable fastener having stringers, coacting locking jaws thereon, and a slider, Slidably mounted on said jaws, a tab, a loop on said slider and extending through a hole in the tab, and laterally projecting, offset Wings on said tab adapted to engage behind said stringers.

3. A linger piece tor sliders of separable fasteners comprising a tab having a pair of otlset laterally projecting wings adapted to engage behind the stringere ot' separable fasteners.
