Description

Dec. 27, 1927.
M.- RUTTGER-PELLI uuxcunme APPLIANCE Filed Oct. 20. 1926 Patented Dec. 27, 1927.
Ill- ARIA R'll'TTGER-PELLI, OF LUCERNE, SWITZERLAND.
MANICURING APPLIANCE.
Application filed October 20, 1926, Serial No. 142,944, and. in Switzerland October 26, 1925.
This invention relates to a manicuring appliance and consists in the provision of a clip adapted to clasp a finger and fitted with a pivoted, bent arm at the free end ofwhich a a file holder is carried sothat the file of the latter can be guided by means of the arm along the edge of the finger-nail.
Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawings represents a side view of the device, Fig. 2, a rear view of the same, Fig. 3, a plan, and Fig. 4:, a view of the device finger for use.
The device consists of a clip formed of a base plate I) and two lateral plates a which are hinged to the base plate. The plates are made of steel and curved transversely so as to fit the finger. A blade spring 0 is secured by a screw (Z to the underside of the base plate, and the ends are turned up against the lateral plates so as to press them against the finger. The base plate has a forward extension 6 to which a bent arm f is pivoted so that it can swing horizontally in front of the finger tip. At the free end of the arm, on a level with the finger nail, a file holder 9 is arranged so that a file Z, fitted in said holder, can be guided by means of the arm along the edge of the finger nail, for trimming the same. The holder is preferably guided longitudinally in a sleeve 2' which is held between pointed screws h in a slot in the arm so as to allow the holder to swing at right angles to the plane of the finger nail. The holder is fitted with an actuating knob is, and a spring we is arranged on it so as to abut against the sleeve 2' and against the head of the holder for holding attached to a the file resiliently against the edge of nail.
The arrangement is such that the file holder can easily be removed from the arm so as to allow it to be used independently of the device, say, for trimming the toe-nails.
I claim:
1. A manicuring device comprising a clip adapted toclasp a finger, a bent arm pivoted to said clip so that it can be turned about the finger tip in the plane of the finger-nail, a file holder connected to the free end of the arm, a knob at one end of the holder, and a file connected to the other end so that it can be guided by means of the device along the edge of the finger-nail.
2. A device according to claim 1 wherein the file holder is adjustably and detachably connected to the arm.
3. The structure claimed in claim 1, and a sleeve mounted between trunnions in 'th arm as a guide for the holder.
4. The structure claimed in claim 1, a sleeve mounted between trunnions in the arm as a longitudinal guide for the file holder, and a spring tending to move the holder in the sleeve towards the finger.
5. A device according to claim 1 wherein the clip is composed of a base plate and two lateral plates hinged to said base plate, the plates being curved transversely to fit the finger, and a blade spring connected to the underside of the base plate, the ends of said spring being turned up against the lateral plates so as to press them against the finger.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
MARIA RllTTGER-PELLI.
