This invention relates tok markingtickets such as are commonly-employed for attach# ment to articles oficlothi'ng to'indicate size,r price, etc., and for'otherpurposes'u .z-f.V
Such *marking tickets are commonlyv sees'A cured' in place' by prongv 'fasteners made -of wire secured to the body of th'e 'ticket.V It
Vis important, however, .in the use of these 'Y marking tickets upon silkfand other fabrlcs" and articles `of av delicatejor expensivefna ture, that the pin lor` prong fasteners' ,em-v
ployed shall not be of acharacter to Acatch the fine fibres or of'a character 'to cutf'thef iin'e-y threads forming thefabric. @The ordinary household pin -is--rea`dily obtainable 'in' vlarge-quantities at small 'expense' and presents a smoothlyfinished point which will not catch the fibres or cut the threads when passed'through' silk and other fine and delicate materials. Y
The object ofthe present invention is to provide a marking ticket adaptable for attachment to the article to be marked by means of such a pin; and the object of the invention more particularly is to provide a construction of ticket which shall protect or. cover the head of the pin at bothfaces of the ticket. The head of the household pin is usually very much larger than the shank,
and if left uncovered or unprotected, it may catch upon some portion lof the article, or
upon other articles, or in various ways beV caught so as to be withdrawn from the ticket and thus cause the separation of theticket from the goods. In the present invention, the construction of the ticket isso arranged that the head ofthe pin is covered atV both faces of the ticket by the material of the ticket. l V These and other objects and features of the invention will beapparent from the accompanyingdescription and drawings, .and will be particularly pointedout in the claims. In theV drawings: 'Y Y l Fig. 1 is a rear view of a portion of a piece of fabric with a marking ticket embodying the preferred form ofthe present invention attached thereto.
L shown in Figgl.
any Vsuitable material, such-'ascardboartk which is employed in the manufacture ofl v.So aiso thesizegofgtheH '.ticket-and' its particular shape willdependf marking tickets.
upon the purposes for whcihit is toV be used.y
W'hatever its'material or size, .the marking ticketv of this invention 'essentiallycomprises fa two connected I foldable main flaps. The mainV flap V'1 is preferably A"of rectangular shape-'and connected at' the line of fold. 2 to .the second' similar main Hap 3.
' -The first-rmain fiap V'1 is providedvfwithua transverse vslot 4, and between thefreei'end 5 of th-is fiap andthe said-slot 4 Vthere are three, preferably transversely, aligned aper-y tures, 6, 7 andzfS. Two of theseapertures,
6 and .7, are comparativelywidely separated and-'are for the purpose of allowing` vthe pin to vpass back andthrough the ticket-and the material, while the third aperture 8 forms a pocket for the headof the pin.

The second main flap 3 is provided near y its free end with two apertures. One of these, as 9, is juxtaposed to the aperture 6 of the first main flap, and the other 10 to the aperture 7, or in other words the two apertures'9 and lO are juxtaposed one to the centralaperture of the lirstmain Hap, and the other to one of the end apertures ofthe first main flap when the two flaps are in their folded position.
A covering iap 11v is connected with the free end 5 of the first main flap 1 and is of a size. such that. it may be folded over the three apertures, 6,5 7 andS, .and then passed through the slot 4 so as to extend between-v the flaps 1 and 3. 'i
The ticket presents onthe main flap 1 indicia. Y
The mannerpof use may nowbe apparent. The flapsl and 3 of the ticket Vare folded together, and the ticket is then slipped over an edge 12 of the article to be marked. An ordinary household pin l13 is then passed through the juxtaposed apertures 7 and l() of the ticket and the interposed material, and then backthrough 'he juxtaposed apertures 9rand 6 and the interposed material,
andthe head is positioned in the aperture 8- Vof the flap 1. The covering flap is now tucked in place through thetransverse slot vandlO, an even larger space for suitable 4. The head of the pin lying in the aperture 8 .is now covered on one side by the flap 11 and at. the other side by the flap 8.A
is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is:
l. A marking ticket for attachment to goods by means of an ordinaryy headed pin comprising two connected foldable main flaps adapted to receive between them the article to be marked; the first main flap having a transverse slot and, between its freen end and said slot, three aligned apertures; the second main liap having two apertures juxtaposed to the central and one end aperture of the first main flap when the flaps are infoldfed position; and a coverin-0' flap connected with the freevend of the Erst main flap, foldablc thereupon over the three apertures and shaped to enable it to be passed through said slot and extend between the main liaps, whereby, when the ticket is folded upon the interposed goods and a pin is passed through the juxta-V posed apertures, the head of the pin will lie in the third aperture in the first main, flap and will be covered at onev .side by the second main flap and at the other side by the covering flap.
2. A markingticket forfattachnient'fto goods by means' of an ordinary headed pin ycomprising two connected foldable main flaps adapted to receive between'them the article tobe marked, the firstv main flap having a transverse Aslot and between its free end and said slot, a pin-head receiving aperture; a covering flap connected to the free end of the first main flap, foldable thereupon and shaped toenable it. toV be passed through said slot and extend between the main iaps; and both main flaps being side by the covering Hap.
In testimony whereof, I have' name to this specification.
