The invention relates to guns and refers more particularly to pop guns of that type in Which air is compressed by the movement of a spring-pressed plunger to eject a cork or stopper from the nozzle end of the barrel. The invention has among' its objects the simplifying of the construction of the parts necessary to perform the required functions,
the arranging of the parts so that they may be readily and quickly assembled and the reinforcing of the parts .so that they will properly take care of the stresses to which they are subjected.
Other objects of the invention reside in the novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as more fully hereinafter set forth.

The gun has the barrel 1 and the frame 2 30 which are formed from an integral sheet metal blank having a portion bent into cylindrical form with overlapping edge portions to foim the barrel and Wing portions terminating in intuined flanges to form the frame.

The plunger assembly comprises the plunger 3 which is insertable Within the barrel 1 and has the shank 4 terminating at its rear end in thel hook 5 formed by `a transverse portion of the shank. -6 is a coil spring surrounding the shank and having its front end abutting the plunger and its rear end engageable over the tongue 7 and abutting the shoulders 8 upon the abutment member 9. This abut-ment member is formed of sheet metal and has the depending reinforcing flanges 10 extending longitudinally thereof at its sides. The top of the abutment member is formed With the longitudinally extending slot 1l for engagement by the hook 5 ofthe shank. This coil spring normally holds the trigger in posit-ion so that the sear 18 is enga-gable by the hook 5 of the shank. V19 is a link Whichk in the present instance is formed of a U-shaped Wire. The link eX- tends longitudinally at the top of the rabutment member and the transverse portion 24 at the front endv of the link is engageable with the hooks 5 of the shank to retract the shank and plunger to engage the hook With' the trigger sear.
20 is the lstock of the gun having the sheet metal U-shaped member 21 secured to its front end and adapted to engage over the frame 2 of the gun. 22 is a pivot insertab'le through aligned openings inI the U-shaped member and the frame and also through the eye formed by the return bent portion 12 of the abutment member, 23 is a pin extending through the U-shaped'member 21 and the eyes 24 foimed at the rear of the link 19 for pulling this link rearwardly upon break-` ingthe gun. The arrangement is such that the ends of the longitudinally extending slot in the abutment member are engaged with the hook of the plunger shank to limit the movement thereof in either direction. The front end ofthe slot limits the forward movement of the plunger' and the rear end of the slot limits the rearward movement of the plunger and consequently limits the breaking` down movement of the gun stock.
Also With ythe arrangement of parts it will ybe readily seen that .the abutment member is reinforced vby the longitudinally extending side flanges and furthermore has a strongconstruction of eye for attaching `to the pin Which connects the frame to the stock. It Will also be seen that the construction of parts is such that they may be cheaply manu factured and readily assembled.
In the modified Construction shown in Figure 6 the arrangement of'parts is the same Withthe exception of the eye formed at the rearl endA of the abutment member for engagement by the pivot which connects the U-shaped member of the stock to the frame. This eye `is formed by the return bent portion 26 at the rear end of the abutment member extending downwardly and forwardly and terminating in a tongue over which the rear end' of the coil spring 27 telescopes. This arrangement also permits of cheap manufacture 4and ready assembly.
