IMPROVEMENT IN SPRING-BEDS.
Specification forming part of Lettt rs Patent No. 163,13 1, dated May 11, 1875; application filed March 29, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CORNELIUS L. AL- VoRD, of New York city, and in the State of New York, ha\"e invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring-Beds; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
My invention relates to that class of spring bed-bottoms in which a number of double spiral springs are connected together at the top and bottom; and the nature of my invention consists in an S-shaped connection, made of sheet metal or other suitable material, for fastening the springs together, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a plan View of a series of springs fastened together by means of my S-shaped connection. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, and Fig. 3 is an enlarged perspective view of the connection.
A A represent the ordinary double spiral springs used in bed-bottoms, which have their top and bottom coils of equal diameter, and larger than the intervening coils.
