Oneof the objects of any nvention is t provide a simple, safe'and efficient skid de vice .for unloading ,heavy, fragile objects from trucks, such as large sheets of plateglass and the like. 1

Another object of my invention is to provide a device which will be extremely light and compact and can be readily assembled and taken apart as far as isnecessary for convenient transportation;

Other objects of my invention will be set forth in the following description and drawings which illustrate a preferred embodiment thereof, it being noted that the above statements of the objects of my invention is intended to generally illustrate the same and not to limit it in any manner.

Fig. 6 is a section on the line 66 of Fig. 4. eretofore it has required a large amount of labor to carefully unload large sheets of plate-glass from trucks because the article was heavy and fragile and had to be handled very carefully.

According to my invention a very smoothv V and eflicient skid device is provided whereby thereof. As shownin ,Fig. 3,a.skidrmay consist-of four boards 12 'so that the uprights 24 can be located in the opening 17 at varying distances from each other. This makes it possible tooperate the device with boxes B of different widths so that the boxes B-may be allowed to move downwardlyupon the skid without'any dangerof their tipping over on one side. Hence the only labor which is necessary is that required to cause the boxes I B to slowly descend.

I claim: '1. A skid member for unloading heavy,

fragile objects from trucks comprising a plurality of boards connected at their undersid'es by means of intermediate connecting members, the said boards and the said connecting members having common openings 7 into which uprightsmay be fitted at varying lateral distances from each other.

2. VA skid element including two adjacent boards, the said boards being connected to each other by an intermediate metal connecting membergthe said connecting member and the said boards having common openings, the said boards having three hook members connected to the ends thereof, the two outside hook members being respectively connected to'each of said boards, and the intermediate hook member having its shank connected to both of said boards.
