UNITED STATES CHARLEY ADAMS, OF`LEATHA, KENTUCKY.
CLAMP.
Application filed April 16, 1926. Serial No. 102,521.
This invention relates to clamps for associating a pump jack rod and equalizer and which contemplates the provision `of companion plates receiving the pump )ack rod aud equalizer yoke therebetween and one of which provides obliquely disposed locking lingers received within correspondingly disposed cut out portions provided 1n its companion plate.
YWith the above and other objects in View the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is an elevation of the invention as applied when in use.
Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a transverse section taken on line 3-3 of Figur-e 2. f
Figure 4; is alongitudinal section taken on line -i-t of Figure 1.
Figures 5 and 6 are plan views of the inner sides of the respective companion plates.
Referring to the drawing in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts. The refer-ence characterlO indicates a yoke linked with a companion like 11 arranged upon an equalizer, not shown, while a pump jack rod 13 has its end normally interposed between the corresponding inner sides of the yoke 10; the respective ends of the yoke and rod 13 having heads 12 formed integrally thereon.
The invention resides in the provision of companion locking plates 14: and 15 respectively; each of which providing semi-circular central portions 16 upon their corresponding inner sides and defining partitions 1T therebetween, in the manner as clearly illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 of the drawing. The partitions ldefined upon the inner side of the locking plate 141 having spaced parallel obliquely dispos-ed locking fingers extending therefrom and adapted for reception within correspondingly disposed cut out portions 19 provided in the corresponding portions on the inner side of the locking plate 15, substantially as illustrated in Figure 4 of the drawing.
From the illustration in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing is to be noted that the locking fingers 18 when extending within the cut out portions 19 of its companion locking plate 15 will be held relatively associated when the Verly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention what is claimed is:-
1. A yoke and rod clamp comprising comi panion plates, said plates providing registering grooves for association with the yoke yand rod, one of said plates havingcutout portions extending therethrough, and locking fingers carried by another of the plates and received within the cutout portions for retaining the yoke and rod against displacement.
2. A clamp comprising companion plates having a plurality of spaced parallel semicircular grooved portions provided upon their corresponding inner sides for receiving the respective ends of a yoke and a rod operating a pump jack, said plates defining partitions between the grooves thereof, locking fingers arranged in obliquely disposed portions upon the partitions of one of the plates, and the remaining plate having correspondingly disposed cutout portions for receiving the fingers therein.
3. A clamp comprising companion plates having a plurality of spaced parallel semicircular grooved portions provided upon their corresponding inner sides for receiving the respective ends of a yoke and a rod operating a pump jack, said plates defining partitions between the grooves thereof, one of said plates having upwardly and obliquely disposed locking fingers, the remaining plate having correspondingly disposed cutout portions to receive said fingers, and the ends of th-e yoke and pump ack rod having enlarged heads abutting the adjacent ends of the plates for retaining the locking fingers against displacement within the cutout portions.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
CHARLEY ADAMS.
