DISPENSING DEVICE FOR INTERFOLDED TISSUE PAPER.
Application filed September 12', 1923.
This invention relates to improvements in dispensing devices and has particular reference to a container adapted to hold therein interfolded tissue toilet paper or towels and t so constructed that the articles contained therein may be readily dispensed.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a simply constructed novel container so that the articles to be dispensed may be 1?: readily positioned therein.
Another object of this invention is to employ an indicating device which will serve to indicate when the supply of articles in the container is exhausted so that the container 1,3 iii'ay be readily re-filled.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a device which is economical to manufacture, highly eflicient in use and one which is in the range of purchase of the av- 215 eiage individual.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description. l
ln the accompanying drawings forming a 23 part of this specification, and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device constructed in accordance with my in- 355 vention,
Figure 2 is a fragmentary detail view of the same secured to a supporting means, such as a wall, the said supporting means being shown in section.
Figure 3 is a rear elevation of the device partly in section, and
Figure e is a detail view showing the manner in which the articles to be dispensed are interlocked.
l am aware of the fact that various de vices have been perfected for the purpose of dispensing articles such as tissue toilet paper or towels, but due to the fact that these devices have been constructed of complicated parts such as, locking means and covers that are troublesome to the average housewife, the said devices have not been adopted in the home and are only used in public places, and thus are restricted in their use.
ln order that the trade may be supplied with a simply constructed device that con tains no complicated parts and can be rea( ily installed by the average house-wife, I
have devised my present invention and have.
provided the Sallie with an open top and Serial Ne. 662,332.
slotted sides so that the articles to be dis pensed may be readily inse rted therein.
ln the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the reference character A indicates the dispensing device as a whole, which embodies in its construction side walls 5 and 6, end walls 'ii and a bottom 8.
It will be observed that the side wall 6 has provided therein openings 9 and 10 which are adapted to receive screws 11 or other fastening means so that the container may be detachably secured to a s upport 11. rPhe end walls 7 are slotted as at 12 so that the curved indicating extensions 13 of the plate 111 may move vertically therein.
This plate is provided with a hand hold 15 which is preferably stamped from the material of the plate. It will be noted that the plate is of a substantially rectangular form so as to conform to the shape of the container and readily move therein.
The
purpose of this plate is to not only prevent foreign matter, such as dust to accumulate on the inter-folded toilet paper or towels 16 when the said articles are positioned in the container prior to dispensing the saine but also serves as a means for forcing the paper towards the opening 17 of the container which opening is formed in the bottom 8. This opening is made by splitting the bottom 8 and providing depending flanges 18 and 19 which serve as a means for guiding the paper when the same is extracted from the bottom of the device.
It will be also observed that the side wall 7 has openings 20 formed therein,
wh ich permit access to the sides of the inter-folded articles for the purpose of initiating the dispensing of the articles when occasion arises.
In practise a quantity of inter-folded articles is positioned in the container and the bottom one trained through the opening 17. After the articles have been placed in the container the plate 14: is pos the articles with the curved itioned on top of extensions 13 of the plate disposed in the slots 12. As the articles are used, the plate will move downwardly and its extensions will indicate to the observer when viewing the container from the front or side, the
quantity of articles remaining in the container and accordingly, the container can be readily reiilled.
'lt will be evident by vir tue of the inter- 'folded relation of the articles as disclosed 'to advantage in Figure e, that the said articles an be successively dispensed.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention, herewith shown and described is to he taken as a preterred esami-file of the same and that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to Without departing' from the spirit of the invention or the scope ot the suhjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention, claim A stationary container for holding` interiolded tissue toilet paper embodying` Iin its construction side Walls, an open top, slotted end Walls and a slotted bottom Wall, a 'liat Weight element having a hand hold and heingV or substantial thickness and positioned upon VALhe interfolded paper, said element heim; of a substantial rectangular conformation and provided with imegrally formed extensions adapted to lmore vertically and don'nrfardy between the slots of the end Walls for indicatingthe quantity ot paper remaining in the container, and means in the side Walls and spaced from the slots to deline hand holds for initiating` the dispensing;` of the paper.
ln testimony Whereo'ln l allix my signatru'e.
LELAND J. A RMS.
