BATH BRUSH.
"Application filedMarch 10, 1925. Serial ITO/14,529.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VINNIE F. CREEGAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath Brushes, of which the following is a specification. a
My invention relates to and has for its purpose the provision of a bath brush of extremely simple and inexpensive construction which is applicable to any tub of conventional form to be supported in any desired position within the tub so that a person in the tub can place his back or any other part of the anatomy in contact with the brush and by movement cause the brush to effec tively clean the part applied.
I will describe only one form of bath brush embodying my invention and will then point out the novel features thereof in claims.
In the accompanying drawings,
Figure 1 is a fragmentary view showing in vertical section a conventional form of tub having applied thereto one form of bath brush embodying my invention.
Figure 2 is a detail perspective View of the bath brush shown in Figure 1.
Referring specifically to the drawings in which'similar reference characters refer to similar parts in each of the views, my invention in its present embodiment comprises a bracket including a clamp comprising a pair of curved jaws 15 and 16, the jaw 16 having a threaded shank 17 extending therefrom and through the upper end of the jaw 15 so that by applying a winged nut 18 to the exposed end of the shank 17, the jaw 15 can be adjusted with respect to the jaw 16 to cause the clamp to firmly engage the rim of a tub. The jaw 16 is provided at its upper end with a pair of spaced ears 19 through which extends a bolt 20. An car 21 formed on the end of a curved arm 22 is interposed between the ears 19 and formed with an opening through which the bolt 20 extends. A winged nut 23 engages the threaded end of the bolt 20 for moving the ears 19 into clamping relation with respect to the ear 21 whereby the arm 22 can be secured in an adjusted position. It is, of course, understood that the arm 22 is capable of adjustment about the bolt 20 as an axis.
The opposite end of the arm 22 extends between spaced ears 24 extending from a plate 25, and a bolt 26 extends through the ears and arm and is provided with a wing nut 27 by which the plate can be clamped in adjusted position on the arm. Secured to the plate 25 is a brush 28, the positioniof which can be varied as desired through ma nipulation of the wing nut 27 as will be understood.
In the applied position of the bath brush to a tub as shown in Figure 1, the jaws 15 and 16 of the clamp. are arranged to embrace the tub rim centrally of one end of the tub, and by manipulation of the wing nut 18 in the manner previously described the jaws can be brought into firm clamping relation to the tub rim. With the clamp so applied, it will be clear that the arm 22 can by manipulation of the nut 20 be moved to position the brush 28 at any desired height within the tub. By an operation of the nut '27, the vertical position ofthe brush 28 can be varied as desired and held in any position by tightening of the nut.
From the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it will be manifest that I have provided means for supporting a bath brush within a tub in such manner that a person in the tub can effectively wash his back by vertical or horizontal movement of the back. while in contact with the brush and that the brush can be adjusted in any desirer position to facilitate the use thereof effectively. The adjustable connection between the arm 22 and the brush permits of the detaching of the brush from the arm for cleaning or other purposes.
Although I have herein shown and de scribed only one form of bath brush embodying my invention, it is to be understood that various changes and modifications may be made herein without departing from the spirit of the invention and the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. In combinatioma clamp comprising a pair of aws adjustable with respect to each other, a pair of ears upon one of the jaws, an arm having one end extending between the ears, a bolt and nut extending through the ears in the arm or pivotally supporting the arm on the clamp and for securing the former in any adjusted position on the latter, and a brush. adjustably mounted on the arm.
2. In combination, a clamp comprising a pair of jaws adjustable to embrace the rim of a tub a pair of ears upon one of the jaws, an arm having one end extending between and engaging the ears, a bolt extending through the ears and the arm for piv otally supporting the arm on the clamp and 1 having a nut adapted for adjustment for securing the former in an adjusted position on the latter, a brush, a plate secured to the brush, a pair of ears on the plate and receiv ing therebetween the other end of the arms, a bolt extending through the ears and arm. and a nut on the bolt for the purpose described VIN NIE FLORENCE CREEGAN.
