To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Mormon- S. CLAwsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Upper Montclair, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nonrusting Alloys, of which the following is a specifi cation. 4
This invention relates to alloys and has for its object the formation of a non-rusting alloy suitable for making table ware, knife handles, building hardware, etc., the alloy' having a somewhat silvery appearance making it attractive and ornamental in addition to possessing suflicient hardness and toughness'to insure proper durability.
An important object is the provision of an alloy of this character which uses nickel as its base, there being also a high carbon content which, together with chromium and iron, will produce the hardness.
In carrying out the invention I make use of the following ingredients used in substantially the proportions specified:

' The above described alloy is really a nickel silicon combination with a lugh carbon content and owing to the presence of the other elements which combine well with a high percentage of carbon, I have found that the proportion of this particular element will not need to be disturbed or, as it is commonly called, knocked down.
The compound lends itself Well to the mak ng of table cutlery or so-called silver ware and innumerable other articles and it is particularly useful on account of its non-rusting qualities.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A non-rusting alloy consisting of nickel 82 to 96 percent, silicon 3 to 10 percent, man ganese 1 to 5vpercent, chromium 1 to 5 per? cent, carbon .85 to 3 percent, iron 1 to 6 percent, and copper to 4 percent, together with a small proportion of reducing, deoxidizing and denitrogenizing elements.
